7/8 Grade Band Night Edition

Greetings!

It's a performance week for our Advanced Bands! All 7th and 8th Grade Band students in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band have Wolf Pack Band Night at DHS this Friday, September 19th! It's a super fun event where our DMS Band kids get to play alongside the DHS Band kids during a DHS Varsity Football Game! It's going to be awesome!

There are 2 high-priority topics I'd like to reemphasize:

  • All students should have their instruments and supplies by now. We'll be using instruments in class every day, so it's imperative that students have them each and every day.
    • Students using a school owned instrument MUST have submitted the usage agreement and usage fee. Students who have not done so will not be able to use a school instrument until that is completed.
  • The $40 Band Fee goes toward enhancing the Band experience for all of our students. Please take care of this at your earliest convenience as it benefits all of the students. Many thanks to the families who have already paid their band fee. Band Fee Form

As always, please reach out with questions or concerns. We're here to partner with you, the parents, to help your students have a positive and successful Band experience.

PICKUP (update from previous communication)

At the conclusion of Half Time, ALL DMS Band Students will be picked up at the Home Side Entrance Gate of the Stadium. This is updated new information since you received the permission slip. The students will be lined up with their chaperone.

If you are picking up your students to take them home, you'll have to park and come to the gate to sign out your student. Tell your student's name to Ms. Gonzales and your student will be brought to you at the gate. You will then sign the sign-out sheet saying you picked up your child.

If you have tickets to the game and are staying after you pick up your student, you'll have to come down out of the bleachers and go to the parent pick up area to sign out your student. Find your student's chaperone and sign the sign-out sheet saying you picked up your child.

  • Please DO NOT take your student without signing them out first.
  • ONLY Parents/Legal Guardians may sign out and pick up their student

Parents of Tubas, Percussion, and Bari Sax students, we appreciate your patience as your students will be packing up and loading their instruments at the conclusion of our event, and then they will be brought over to the parent pickup area to be signed out.

Reminder...The Band Hall is open every morning at 7:30 AM for students to come practice. We frequently have organized practices/rehearsals, however, at least one of our band rooms is open for students to practice as needed. Students should be practicing their instrument daily, whether at home or during tutorials time (preferably both). This should add up to at least 100 minutes of practicing per week. This is necessary for your student to continue to improve and progress appropriately through the curriculum.
