Dear Parents, Students and Families,

We are excited to invite you to our Open House on September 18th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. This event will give you the chance to meet your child’s teachers and explore the learning spaces they will be using this year. Please feel free at this time to explore both buildings, our main building at 10 Maplewood Avenue and the new wing located in back of the COT that houses our Culinary Arts, Athletic Training, Travel, Tourism and Fun program as well as our EMT and Intro to Medical Science programs.

On September 22nd, we will have McKenney Photographers taking student photos. Biddeford High School students will have their pictures taken at BHS on 9/18. Students from our sending schools will be done on 9/22. Student pictures will be uploaded into our student data system to help us identify students in the event of an emergency. We hope we never have to use them but we want to be prepared if needed.

You can expect individual instructors to reach out to you and your child. Teachers should also be sending you an invitation to join their Google Classroom. You will be able to see students' expectations, assignments, etc., in the GC portal. Infinite Campus is the portal that holds grades and attendance. Communication is important and please do hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Our phone number is 207-282-1501.

We’ll be sending out a monthly newsletter to keep you informed about school events and updates. You can also find additional information on our website, including our Student/Parent Handbook. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at 207-282-1501.

We are excited about the coming year and we look forward to working with you and your child.

Sincerely,

Paulette Bonneau

Director, Biddeford Regional Center of Technology

We are pleased to welcome Ms. Robin Mose as our new CNA/Health Assistant instructor of the Biddeford Regional Center of Technology. She is a licensed Registered Nurse and has an MSN specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. As an NP, she practiced in Neurology and Dermatology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in New Hampshire, before returning to work as a school nurse in recent years.

Patient education has been an important focus in her nursing role. Following her earlier career as a fisheries biologist doing field work in Alaska, she transitioned to teaching marine biology across the age span before becoming a nurse. Having just moved to Maine after raising her four children in New Hampshire for the past 25 years, she is looking forward to combining her passions for teaching and nursing at BRCOT.

To make the most of the unique learning experiences at BRCOT, it’s important that students attend every day, on time, and ready to learn. Our A.M. session runs from 8:30-10:40, and the P.M. session is from 12:20-2:25. Since many activities cannot be replicated, missing a class could mean missing important one-time educational events.

If your child will be absent, please notify us by calling BRCOT. We are sending automated text messages and calls to parents/guardians if a student is absent without notification.

CELL PHONE POLICY CELL PHONE POLICY

We would like to remind parents and students about the our cell phone policy. In the summer of 2024, the Biddeford School Committee passed Policy JICJ, which governs the use of cell phones and other electronic devices. This policy aligns with BRCOT’s established guidelines, as outlined in our Student/Parent Handbook.

At BRCOT, cell phones and other electronic devices, including smartwatches, must be turned off—not just placed in silent mode—during class time. Instructors may also require that devices be stored in designated classroom locations. Access to these devices during class may be allowed only for specific educational purposes.

NURSE/HEALTH INFORMATION NURSE/HEALTH INFORMATION

BRCOT does not have a school dedicated nurse. The nurses at Biddeford High School assist us when needed. We also will coordinate with your child's sending school as needed. Please take the time to read this important health information update from the school nurse to ensure your child has a smooth, healthy transition to starting the school year.
