This year, Mrs. Snyder is serving as Assistant Principal at Cold Spring, Gayman, and now Butler (2-days a week). Please join Butler in welcoming Mrs. Snyder!
Important Information
Butler Dismissal / Parking in the Highland Community Association Spaces
Butler Elementary has a complicated but systematic arrival and dismissal process for our busses, car riders, and walkers. Where Butler is set, the Highland Home Association and our immediate neighbors have asked us to pass along the message that parking in some of the roadways is for Highland Association residents ONLY. Do not park in these spots to wait for your student walkers to arrive. Please be mindful of this and instead follow our established carline process if walking door-to-door is not able to occur. We appreciate your attention and cooperation as a school/neighborhood community.
School Parent Volunteers - New Information - Action Item
Valid volunteer cards may be used through the end of this school year.
- Please turn in your card to the school after your last volunteer event. (Or Bring to Volunteer Tea!)
- Cards will not be accepted after 6/30/2025, regardless of the expiration date on the card.
Volunteers must create a Raptor account to volunteer after this school year. Volunteers can retrieve their clearances from their App Garden account – this must be done by May 16, 2025. All required documents must be uploaded with the Raptor application – revisions cannot be made once the application is submitted. Detailed information is available on our site at: Human Resources / VOLUNTEER Clearances/Paperwork
Thank you for your understanding and for volunteering your time for our students!
Butler Cell Phone/SMART Watch/Personal Device Policy
At Butler, the use of student cell phone/SMART Watch/personal device usage in school is prohibited (medical exemptions apply). As a reminder, these devices are to be silenced and remain in backpacks during the school day. Should there be a need for communication, that would take place with the support of the school office during the school day. Please be sure to share these expectations with your child as this policy will be enforced by teachers/staff in coordination with District policy.
CB and Butler Handbooks
Additionally, Butler has a Parent/Student Handbook that applies these district policies specific to our school.
Please familiarize to both important documents as we continue throughout the school year.

School Happenings
"Earth Day" Week - 4/22-4/25
Earth Day was celebrated the week of April 22nd, where Butler recognized ways to celebrate our Earth while being conscientious of how we reduce, reuse, and recycle. To kick things off, lunch times held a friendly competition among grade levels for who produced the least amount of trash per student - with 1st grade earning extra recess! Subsequent days included theme days where staff and students wore special colors. Thanks to the Earth Day Committee for organizing the week's events.
3rd Grade Butterflies
Butler 3rd Grades have begun their butterfly study of the life cycle unit! Soon, caterpillars will be coming into the classroom for students to learn and understand as they go through changes into butterflies.
PEN - 5th Gr. Enrichment Project
Over the last few months, 5th grade PEN students have been researching Washington Crossing and the Battle of Trenton in order to prepare for their upcoming field trip. Student teams then worked to create an engaging PowerPoint or Canva presentation to capture what they had learned. Each team then applied their public speaking skills to present their findings to one of the 5th grade classes. All of the students are now well informed and eager for their visit!
CB Kids Run - 4/26 (At CB South)
On April 26th, CB Held their first 5k Fun Run at CB South. Many Butler Bears ran while representing Butler in the Green and white! It was a fun day and many students worked hard to "Finish before Filson"!

School Recognition - 6th Grader Who Responded in an Emergency
The success of Butler as a school is dependent upon our students and staff. As many know, we work hard at communicating (1) within our school so that our safety standards and procedures are well understood and (2) outside of school so parents and families are aware of when events occur (both planned and unplanned). One of our "unplanned" events occurred where our emergency response team (CERT) was called to attend to an individual. Our team's quick response was the result of a 6th grader, Emma F., who saw the situation, processed that someone needed help, and notified an adult. We want to recognize Emma for her quick thinking and action because she knew what to do when someone needed help. Great job Emma!
