March Edition

Dear Parkwood Families,

As we approach the final week before spring break, we have some exciting updates and important reminders to share with you. We hope this newsletter finds you well and ready for a restful break!

Celebrations from the Week

-Congratulations to our Global Reading Challenge winners — 5th grade team “The Crazy Clownfish”! A round of applause for: Lily Greer, Hannah Miller, Franck Atemandeh, Arabesque Walsh, Abigail Westervelt, & Hannah Westervelt.

We are so proud of your hard work and excitement for reading. Best of luck at the district challenge — go Crazy Clownfish!

- Congratulations to our 5th graders who participated in the Regional Spelling Bee! Gracelyn and Heron you both worked so hard, showed incredible courage, and represented our school with pride. We are so proud of the dedication, perseverance, and bravery it takes to stand on stage and spell in front of an audience. Way to go! Congratulations Heron on winning the Regional Spelling Bee and moving on to nationals!

Additional Information

Conferences

  • Dates & times:
    • Monday, March 23 — 4:00–8:00 PM
    • Tuesday, March 24 — 4:00–8:00 PM
    • Thursday, March 26 — 12:00–4:00 PM
  • If you did not sign up, your child’s teacher should have assigned a date/time and shared that with you. We aim to meet with 100% of families because research shows students do best when home and school collaborate closely.
  • If you are unable to attend your scheduled time, teachers will reach out by phone or email; a two-way communication (call-back or email exchange) can still count as a conference. Thank you for helping us reach this important goal.

Book Fair (Library)

  • Families are welcome to visit the Book Fair before and after school. To keep our building safe and organized, family members will not be permitted to visit the Book Fair during school hours.
  • Before-school hours (Garden door → library → exit same door):
    • Monday–Thursday, March 23–26, 7:45–8:40 AM. Please note all visitors must exit before student arrival at 8:44 AM.
  • After-school hours (enter school after student dismissal):
    • Monday, March 23 & Tuesday, March 25 — 4:00–8:00 PM
    • Thursday, March 26 — 12:06–4:00 PM
    • Families may attend conferences and/or the Book Fair after students have been dismissed for the day. If you plan to visit after dismissal, your child should meet you outside before reentering the building together for the Book Fair.
  • EWallet option: If you cannot visit during before/after-school hours and want your child to shop during school time, consider creating an EWallet (preloaded funds tied to your child’s name and teacher). This lets students safely buy items without carrying cash.
  • Book Fair website & EWallet info: (please refer to the school message or teacher communication for the exact link and setup instructions).

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. We look forward to seeing you at conferences, the musical, and the Book Fair — and to continuing our work together to support every student’s learning and growth.

Warm regards,

Principal Rosecrans
