Greetings HESD Families,

It was another wonderful week across HESD! I had the opportunity to visit classrooms at Haycox, Hueneme, Larsen, Parkview, Sunkist, and Williams, where I enjoyed seeing students engaged in learning and settling into their classroom routines. I also attended Hueneme School's staff meeting and heard from one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), who shared more about their role and strategies for supporting students in the classroom.

Last night, Hueneme and Hollywood Beach both held their Back-to-School Nights. While I wish I could have attended both, I had the opportunity to join the Hollywood Beach community, where families met their children's teachers, visited classrooms, and learned more about what students will be learning this year. The classrooms looked terrific, and the evening included a resource fair connecting families with helpful programs and services. It was also wonderful to hear from the PTA and learn more about the many ways it supports students, staff, and the entire Hollywood Beach community.

As a reminder, schools and district offices will be closed Monday in observance of the Labor Day holiday. I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend!

Back to School Nights are Underway Across Our District Back to School Nights are Underway Across Our District

Our annual Back to School Nights are officially in full swing! We want to extend a warm thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended our first two events last night. Your presence and partnership make a meaningful difference in our students' success.

For schools with events scheduled in the coming weeks, Back to School Night provides an essential opportunity to:

  • Experience your student's daily learning environment.

  • Hear directly from teachers about grade-level goals and academic expectations.

  • Discover ways to support learning at home and get involved in the school community.

We look forward to welcoming the rest of our families soon!
