OWL NEWS
VOLUME 13 - FEBRUARY 28, 2025
Dear Owl Families,
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first-ever One School One Book (OSOB) program at Riverside School! This initiative promotes family involvement through literacy by having our entire Riverside community read the same book together. Our chosen book is the beloved classic, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"!
Today, we kicked off the program with a special video presentation for all scholars (check it out here!). Each child will bring home a copy of the book along with a bookmark that includes a QR code to our OSOB website. The website (linked here) features our reading calendar, audio recordings of chapters read by special guests from our Riverside family, and links to nightly trivia.
Please follow the reading calendar for nightly reading sessions and participate in our nightly trivia for a chance to win exciting prizes. Your involvement plays a HUGE role in the success of this program!
Happy reading!
Ms. Kama-Starr and Mr. Cohen

OWL SUPPORTER
We are thrilled to announce the Neer family as the winners of our "Owl Supporter" initiative for February! This initiative celebrates families who go above and beyond to support our greater Riverside community.
The Neer family has been incredibly supportive in the classroom. They consistently sign up to help at events, send in snacks when needed, and provide fun goodies during holidays. Their contributions, such as Halloween faces for bulletin boards and fun pencils and candy bags, have brought joy to the classroom. They also generously purchase prizes from the teacher's wish list, ensuring that every scholar has a memorable kindergarten experience.
The entire Neer family is deeply invested in the education and well-being of the students. Their active involvement and dedication are truly appreciated. We are grateful to have such wonderful parents and grandparents in our community.
Congratulations to the Neer family!
RAMADAN MUBARAK
As we approach the holy month of Ramadan, we want to ensure that our scholars who observe this important time feel supported and respected. Every day during Ramadan, students who are fasting will have the option to go to an alternate location during recess and/or lunch. This space will provide a quiet and comfortable environment for reflection and rest.
We hope this initiative helps create a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all our students. Wishing everyone a blessed and peaceful Ramadan!

TRANSPORTATION REMINDERS
1- If you are dropping off or picking up your scholar(s) via the car line you MUST enter the line by driving down Montrose Avenue and turning left to go up along the front side of the school. Please do NOT cut across from Glencliffe to Montrose. Cutting across can back up the buses. It is also unfair to the families who are abiding by the rules and it sets a negative example for our scholars. Everyone's time is valuable and we appreciate your attention to this matter.
2- Whenever you are driving near Riverside please be sure to obey all traffic laws. This includes but is not limited to driving within the posted speed limit, only parking in appropriate spots, and following the one-way signs. Please also refrain from blocking our neighbors' driveways and throwing trash out of vehicles. After all, we want to be good neighbors.
3- School officially ends each day at 4:05PM. All scholars need to be picked up by 4:15PM. Any parent/guardian picking up their scholar(s) after 4:15PM will need to come into the office to sign them out. If you are running late, please be sure to call and let us know. You can call the main office number at 216-838-6700.
4- The Glencliffe side of the building is ONLY for buses and vans. Scholars cannot be dropped off or picked up by families on the Glencliffe side of the building.
5- Each day our playground is closed from 3:50PM to 4:15PM. We absolutely love that so many families want to stay after and play. We just ask that you give us this time to ensure every child has been safely dismissed.
6- Please note that the playground is also closed in the morning. When the scholars arrive, they need to get right into the morning line.
