Hello Glennwood Families,

It has been wonderful to have all of our young Eagles back in the building this week! The energy and smiles at arrival after the Thanksgiving break have been absolutely fantastic—it's great to see everyone recharged and ready for the final push before the holidays.

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to every single family for your prompt response and patience on Monday following our unexpected water main break. We are incredibly grateful for your partnership, which ensured the safety and smooth early dismissal of all our students.

Our students have been hard at work this week, focusing on the STAR testing! They are doing an incredible job showing us all the amazing progress and learning they’ve accomplished since the beginning of the year. We look forward to analyzing these results and will be sharing your student's specific progress with you in the upcoming weeks.

Please take a look at the special invite later in this edition of the Eagle Edition for our upcoming Coffee Chat. This session is focused on supporting the whole child and is a valuable opportunity for parents to connect with our administrative team and learn about key initiatives. The presentation will take place next Friday, December 12th, immediately following the Community Circle. We look forward to seeing you there!

Important: Your Voice Shapes Glennwood's Future

Now, I need your help with an essential task: the GaDOE School Climate Survey.

This survey is one of the most important tools we have to understand our school environment from your perspective. The data collected directly informs our School Improvement Plan, helping us refine our processes and procedures to better serve every student. Your voice and opinion truly matter!

We have an ambitious but achievable goal this year: 100% participation from our Glennwood families! Please take 5 to 10 minutes to thoughtfully complete the survey and help us make Glennwood the best possible environment for our Eagles. Click here for the link to the survey. Let's show the district the strength of our Glennwood Crew by hitting 100%!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and commitment to making Glennwood soar.

In partnership,

Bill Howard
Proud Principal, Glennwood Elementary

Spotlight on Spanish Classes with Sra. Ramos

Hola!

-In Kindergarten we have been learning the names of family members and pets. As a fun project, we made and labeled one of the pets that we like: dog (perro), cat (gato) or bunny (conejo).

-In First Grade we have been learning the names of body parts. Students were able to use their imagination to create a “monstruo” with as many feet (pies), hands(manos), eyes (ojos) and mouths (bocas) as they wanted.

-In Second Grade we have been learning about family, pets, and parts of the house. During our last project, students wrote about their favorite part of their house. For most of them it was el dormitorio (bedroom).

Hi Parents –Glennwood is participating in a very special community service program to raise funds for the American Heart Association. We’re joining in the fight against our nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers - heart disease and stroke.

This month, our school will hold our Kids Heart Challenge event. This program helps students learn about the benefits of regular physical activity and heart health, but also teaches the value of giving back to those in need. Heart disease affects many families in our community, so your support means a lot!

  • Your student will earn their lifesaving Heart Heroes thank you gifts, which they met at kickoff, on Fridays.
  • This program runs from December 1-December 19.
  • Be sure to register online here!
  • Complete Finn’s Mission online to receive a superhero cape and be sure to share with friends and family that your student is participating, for their chance to earn mystery gifts.
  • Glennwood Elementary’s goal is to raise $3,000 and see 60 students registered online, taking a heart-healthy challenge! Together, we can make a BIG IMPACT!
  • This program is completely optional! Don’t let your child pressure you into committing to participating if you do not want to :)

Bulldog Fans — Get Ready for Our First Annual Toy Toss!

This holiday season, our Decatur Bulldogs are teaming up to support Toys for Tots, and we need your help to make our First Annual Toy Toss a huge success!

Join us at the Basketball Game on December 5 and bring a new plush toy to donate. Every CSD Elementary student who brings a toy will receive FREE admission with a paying adult!

Then get ready for the highlight of the night: In between games, fans will toss their donated toys onto the court, where our players and cheerleaders will collect them and prepare them for delivery to Toys for Tots. It’s a fun, festive way to give back and show what Bulldog spirit is all about!

Let’s pack the stands, support our teams, and spread holiday cheer across our community. Go Bulldogs!
