September 1, 2026, marks the start of Attendance Awareness Month! This is a time to focus on the importance of attending school daily.

Studies show that students who keep a consistent attendance rate are more likely to succeed academically, which affirms the importance of parents and guardians ensuring that their children attend school regularly.

Please join the Conejo Valley Unified School District this September in raising awareness about the impact of attendance on student success. Students who have good attendance in September are most likely to thrive all year long!

Check out this video for more information on how CVUSD is better together, when all students attend school daily:

CVUSD is Better Together: Attendance Video

The theme for Attendance Awareness Month this year is, “Your Presence Matters!” This initiative calls on schools, districts, and local communities to focus on the power of student and family engagement, build a welcoming school culture in the fall, and prevent chronic absenteeism. Now Available: LightSpeed Parent Portal, A New Digital Safety Tool for Families Now Available: LightSpeed Parent Portal, A New Digital Safety Tool for Families

Last week, all CVUSD parents/guardians were sent an email from LightSpeed Systems welcoming them to the now available LightSpeed Parent Portal for CVUSD families.

Lightspeed Parent Portal is an optional resource that gives parents and guardians greater visibility into their student’s activity on district-issued devices whenever the device is at home or off the district network, including weekly summaries of web activity and the ability to manage certain at-home access features. Through Lightspeed, parents/guardians are able to disable access to specified websites whenever the device is at home or off the district network, or even pause internet browsing completely.

Utilization of the Lightspeed Parent Portal is completely optional. Families who choose to participate can create an account and access available Parent Portal features and reports.

To get started with the Lightspeed Parent Portal, parents/guardians should go to: https://conejo-valley.portal.relay.school/ and create an account with the email address associated with their Parent/Guardian profile in Q.

Click Here to Get Started with the Lightspeed Parent Portal

Additional information, including parent resources and frequently asked questions, can be found on the Technology Services Lightspeed Parent Portal website.

The goal of offering the Lightspeed Parent Portal is to strengthen communication between schools and families, support healthy technology habits, and provide parents with additional tools to support safe and responsible digital citizenship at home. CVUSD successfully piloted the Lightspeed Parent Portal this spring with CVUSD parents and guardians, who provided positive feedback regarding this digital tool.
