Educational Housing Updates
Jefferson Union High School District, June 2024
A Message from the Director of Staff Housing
I hope your summer vacation is off to a great start and this message finds you well! In this second Educational Housing Update, we'll share highlights from the June 6, 2024 Educational Housing Corporation Board Meeting. These meetings are open to the public and info about these meetings can be found here.
I would like to share that, in needing to be closer to family living outside of the Bay Area, I have resigned from my District role as Director of Communication and Staff Housing. Please know that I have truly enjoyed my time in this role and it has been an honor to serve the JUHSD community, including the residents of 705. For all 705-related questions, please reach out to the amazing leasing office team. For questions or concerns related to the District's connection to 705, please contact Deputy Superintendent of Business Services Tina Van Raaphorst, (650) 550-7954.
I thank you for being a part of the JUHSD/705 family and wish you nothing but the best!
Regards,
Austin Worden

Educational Housing Corporation Meeting Held on June 6, 2024
On Thursday, June 6, the Educational Housing Corporation (EHC) held their most recent board meeting in the District Office Board Room 223. To see the agenda from this meeting, click here. Below are the highlights:
David McClain, Executive Director of Community & Government Relations and Staff Housing for the San Mateo Community College District, joined this meeting to share insight on their educational housing that opened before ours and changes they have made along the way to best fit their process and support all employee residents.
The Board of Directors has decided to reduce the transition period for vacating their unit upon an employee's departure from 90 days to 60 days. With our waitlist expanding and our commitment to maintaining available units for staff retention and recruitment, this adjustment aligns with our goals. The Leasing Office team will be sending a 30-day notice of change to this policy effective July 17, 2024. For employees whose final day of employment with District is on or after this date, please note this change will apply to you.
The Board of Directors has approved the 2024-2025 budget which included a 2% increase in rent. This rent increase is necessary to ensure repayment of the building’s construction loan and to address increasing operations costs caused by inflation. It's important to emphasize that even with this adjustment, the rent remains approximately 48% below the prevailing market rates in our area. Depending on the size of your unit, you can anticipate a rent increase between $27 and $50 per month. Existing residents will encounter this adjustment upon the renewal of their lease. Regardless of whether a resident is going month-to-month or renewing their lease, the new rate will be reflected on their September 2024 rent. You will receive individual renewal information from BLVD, but to see an overview of increases, look at the chart below.
Lastly, the meeting minutes from the April 4 meeting were approved. You can access those minutes here.

Upcoming EHC Meeting Info
The next regularly scheduled EHC Meeting will take place on August 1, 2024. Public session begins at 6:00 pm (unless otherwise noted) and will now be held at the NEW District Office building, 123 Edgemont Drive, Building A, Daly City.
Reminders from the 705 Leasing Office Team
The Debris Box is back!
The debris box returns to 705 now through June 18! Summer vacation is a great time to clean out and purge items you no longer need. Take advantage of this FREE service offered through the Leasing Office and Republic Services.
The debris box is located right next to the trash bin pick up area in the back of the building. Please take a moment to review the below flyer from Republic Services. Be sure to only place acceptable items inside the debris box. Unacceptable items will result in a fine. For electronics, Republic Services mentioned you may drop them off at most Best Buy stores.
If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to contact the Leasing Office. Happy decluttering!
