Note From the Principal

Subject: Important Updates for Our School Community

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we embrace the cooler weather and the transition to winter, we have a few important updates to share with you to ensure the safety and success of our students.

1. Lost and Found: Please remind your students to check our Lost and Found area regularly. With the change in weather, we have already accumulated a significant collection of coats and other items. We want to make sure that everyone stays warm and comfortable during the colder months, and lost items can often be found in the Lost and Found area. Encourage your children to keep track of their belongings, and let us know if they've misplaced anything.

2. Emphasizing Attendance and Promptness: At Carberry, we believe that regular attendance and punctuality are crucial for student learning and success. To support this, we have implemented a new security measure. Thanks to the generous support of the "Saving our Future's" grant, our classroom outside doors will now remain locked, even if they are opened during school hours. This change will help maintain a safe and secure environment for our students.

3. Exciting News: Out of School Planning Grant! We are thrilled to announce that Carberry has been awarded a $15,000 Out of School Planning Grant from the Idaho Commission for Libraries. This grant will allow us to provide additional support to some of our students who may need extra assistance one day a week. We are committed to ensuring every student's success and well-being, and this grant will help us achieve that goal.

We appreciate your ongoing support and partnership in providing the best educational experience for your children. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at (208)365-0839.

Thank you for being an essential part of our Carberry community. We are also celebrating that 97% of our families were able to attend Parent Teacher Conferences. Way to go parents and guardians.

Warm regards,

Greg Alexander, Principal

News From the Nurse

Many parents are asking if they should keep their sick child at home? Please consider these guidelines:

¶ Fever greater than 100.0° F: The child can return to school after he/she has been fever free for 24 hours (without fever-reducing medicine such as Tylenol or Motrin).

¶ Diarrhea/Vomiting: A child with diarrhea and /or vomiting should stay at home and return to school only after being symptom-free for 24 hours.

¶ Persistent Cough &/or sore throat: Please consider keeping them home especially if they are unable to participate in class.

Keeping a sick child home prevents the spread of illness in school and allows the child an opportunity to rest and recover. Please call the school nurse if you have questions.

NO TOYS ALLOWED AT SCHOOL

Parents, please make sure your students do NOT bring toys to school. Per our Student Handbook page 3, "The school will not be responsible for items lost, stolen, or broken. Therefore, electronic games or devices, cell phones, smart watches, toys, trading cards, skates, skateboards, etc. are not to be brought to school. Watches that are considered "smart" devices are not to be used and are considered a cellular device. If they are at school and become a problem, staff may take the item from the student and only return the item to parents.

OCTOBER AT CARBERRY

We are thrilled to share the fantastic Halloween celebrations that took place at our school this October. Our students and staff showed off their creativity by dressing up in various Halloween costumes. From the Mad Hatter to friendly superheroes, the school was buzzing with festive spirits and imaginative characters. This year, we introduced a new and exciting event at our school - the "Trunk or Treat" extravaganza. Parent volunteers turned our parking lot into a Halloween wonderland with their creatively decorated car trunks/truck beds. Students enjoyed going from car to car, collecting treats, and experiencing a safe and fun twist on traditional trick-or-treating. A big thank you to all the parents who participated in making this event a memorable one.

A huge thank you to our PTO for organizing this event !

A huge thank you to the Helm's family for supplying our students with pumpkins! It was very much appreciated!
