Flex Learning Days
09/07/2026
Dear Parent/Guardian
Elise Middle School Flexible Learning Days are designed to support your child in the area where they are not currently demonstrating success. If your child is invited to attend our Flexible Learning Days, they will receive a letter and phone call, and it will be counted towards attendance. We are inviting students due to making insufficient academic progress. Your student’s iReady and classroom data are used to determine if they will attend the Flexible Learning Day.
Students will receive focused, intensive instruction or academic support based on their specific needs. Instruction in Math, Reading, 8th grade Science as well as community building lessons will take place for some students as well. Students will have blocks of instruction and will be scheduled based on their needs.
Transportation will be provided for students who regularly ride a bus.
Regular breakfast and lunch service will be available.
If you have any questions please contact Elise Middle School administration, Carlos Rodriguez (crodriguez@ncmcs.org) or Catrina Nordgren (cnordgren@ncmcs.org) or call the school and ask to speak to one of us. 910-948-2421

MCS America 250 Weekly Message
This is your weekly '250
Years of Liberty: A Declaration Spotlight,' celebrating the Semiquincentennial
(se-mē-quinn-sen-ten-ē-el) of American Independence.
This week, we’re focusing on the inspiring impact of the Declaration of Independence.
The Declaration didn’t win battles or instantly create a new government. But it did
something just as important — it gave purpose, meaning, and direction to the American
Revolution. It clearly stated what the colonies believed and why they were willing to fight
for those beliefs.
For the first time, our founders boldly declared that freedom and rights do not come from a
king or individual ruler. Instead they believed that freedoms and rights belong to all people
simply because they exist. That idea was bold, risky, and incredibly inspiring.
And its influence didn’t stop in 1776. The words and ideas in the Declaration have inspired
people around the world. Leaders of the French Revolution looked to it when demanding
liberty and equality. Nations in Latin America fighting for independence in the early 1800s
were influenced by its message. Movements for freedom across the globe have echoed
the belief that all people deserve rights and self-government.
Even today, the Declaration challenges each new generation — including us — to protect
equality, defend freedom, and work toward a society where rights truly belong to everyone.
As we mark 250 years of independence, let’s remember that the Declaration of
Independence is more than a historical document. It is a statement of hope — one that
continues to inspire the world.
