Good evening, Shark Family! This past week was a busy one! Herff Jones was on campus to distribute Class Ring information to Juniors and Senior Supply information to Seniors. We also kicked off our JAWS Afterschool Tutoring this week, which meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30.
This week, there are several events going on.
On Monday, SJHS will be celebrating International Literacy Day! Students can join in the celebration by dressing as their favorite book character! Students are also invited to take part in our #Rise with Reading Photo opportunity at lunch. We will also be kicking off the Superintendent's Reading challenge by collectively reading 10,000 pages as a school on Monday at 10:00 AM!
On Wednesday, September 10, representatives from Herff Jones will be on campus from 11:45 am to 1: 30 pm in the SJHS’s foyer to take Junior Class Ring Orders and Senior Supply Orders.
Our first School Improvement Council meeting is scheduled for noon on Thursday, September 11. Everyone is invited to attend.
I’d also like to remind everyone that Underclassmen pictures are scheduled for September 18. We encourage all students to plan to take a picture.

The first SJHS SIC meeting of the year is this Thursday, September 11 at 12:00 in the SJHS Media Center. Any SJHS parent is welcome to attend. Please join us as we work to make SJHS the best it can be!
Seniors: Next week in advisory we will talk about senior conferences. Then information will be sent out about getting these meetings scheduled with parents and your counselor. We look forward to getting everything lined up for your last year of high school.
St. James High School will be hosting a college fair for our students on October 8, 2025.. There is also a College Fair for parents and students at Coastal Carolina University on October 7. To attend the College fair, the student will need to register for a barcode that they will need to show to enter. This is so they can show the colleges their barcode and the college rep will scan and have the student’s information.
You can choose 1 date or you may choose to attend both. Below is the information about the dates and times. I have also attached the list of participating colleges.
Daytime: October 8th Only Students
Time: 1:45-2:45 pm (Seniors 1:45-2:15, Juniors 2:15-2:45)
Location: Main Gym at St. James High School
Nighttime: October 7th Students & Parents
Time: 5:30-7:00 pm
Location: Scholars Academy on Coastal Carolina University’s campus
Student Registration - StriveFair.com
Students visit StriveFair.com to get registered to receive their barcode. They receive it right away, and they receive a reminder barcode sent via text and email 2 hours prior to the fair.Students need to print out the barcode to show at the door.
College Application Day will be October 31. Students will be able to sign up and come to get started on applications. Counselors and college representatives will be available to assist students with this. Students will get an email about signing up for this closer to this date.

A $100 deposit is required for orders over $100, and payment in full is required for orders under $100.

12th Grade Parents:
It’s time to order your child’s graduation supplies. Parents are able to place orders online immediately at SCHerffJones.com, or parents can work with a Herff Jones representative to place orders on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 11:45 am to 1: 30 pm in the SJHS’s foyer. A $100 deposit is required for orders over $100, and payment in full is required for orders under $100. It is recommended to place orders before December 1, 2025. After December 1, 2025, prices will increase.
