Let’s strike up the energy, Huskies! 🎯

What a ride for Hewitt-Trussville Volleyball! The Huskies claimed the 7A North Super Regional Tournament title, defeating a trio of top teams along the way — Hoover (3-2), Bob Jones (3-0), and Austin (3-2).

This incredible run follows their 7A Area 7 Championship, capping off a dominant postseason stretch for Coach Andie Freedman’s squad. The team’s grit, focus, and teamwork have shined through every set, and now they’re headed to the AHSAA State Tournament for the first time since 1989!

💪 Congratulations, Huskies — your hard work and heart are taking you all the way!

Watch the Winning point vs. Hoover that allowed Hewitt to qualify for state for the first time in 36 years!

The Hewitt-Trussville Huskies closed out region play in dominant fashion Friday night with a 49–7 win over Tuscaloosa County, securing the No. 2 seed in Class 7A, Region 3 and a first-round home playoff game.

The Huskies set the tone early, jumping out to a 35–0 halftime lead behind a balanced offensive attack. Quarterback Zach Benedict was nearly flawless, completing 10 of 12 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns—connecting with Dylan Cope on a 46-yard strike and Dane Askins on a 3-yard score. The ground game was equally impressive, with CJ Davis and Deuce Alston combining for three rushing touchdowns in the first half. Alston added a 42-yard score in the third quarter, surpassing 2,000 career rushing yards in the process.

Defensively, Hewitt-Trussville was relentless, limiting the Wildcats to under 200 yards of total offense. Parker Floyd reached another milestone, surpassing 300 career tackles, while the special teams unit remained perfect on extra points behind Nathan Fritz and Banks Lloyd.

The win improves the Huskies to 8–2 overall and secures a home playoff matchup in two weeks against Opelika. The team will use the upcoming bye week to rest and prepare for what promises to be an exciting postseason run.
