Bus Reminders
Private Transportation Reminders
It is very important that private transportation guidelines are followed for the safety of our kids.
-When entering the private transportation line, you must come from the south (Sea Girt Avenue-Foodtown). Cars are not permitted to enter from the north (Ocean Ave/Old Mill Inn). When departing the private transportation line, you must turn right onto Old Mill Road.
-During pick up, please make sure you have your last name on the dashboard. This makes the process go much faster!
-Please do not get out of your car. Please give hugs and kisses to your child before you leave the house instead of when it's your turn. This slows down the process drastically.
-Please pull up all the way and do not wait directly in front of the entrance. Pulling forward helps keep the line moving and allows cars to cycle through much more quickly.
-Do not pass other cars in the line. You must wait for the cars in front of you. This ensures the safety of our students.
-If someone else is picking up your child, please make sure that they are listed in Genesis as an emergency contact. Please share these procedures with them.
Please read the Dismissal Reminders. We appreciate your support. Thank you!
If your child will be late or absent from school............................
You must let the main office know if your child will be late or absent from school or your child will be marked "truant."
You can call or email the main office (OMSmainoffice@gmail.com).
You can input the absence in Genesis. Please utilize this link for directions.
This Year's Theme at OMS!
This year, our school theme is Kindness Starts with ME! We are excited to begin the school year by encouraging our students to recognize the important role they each play in creating a kind, caring, and welcoming school community. On the first day of school, every teacher will read a book to their class that reinforces this message and helps students think about how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. We look forward to working together with our families to make kindness a part of our everyday school experience! If you're interested in purchasing a shirt, you can do so using this LINK.
Birthday and Party Food Guidelines
Please read the birthday and party food guidelines. Please reach out to the teacher prior to sending in food. Goody Bags are not permitted. Thank you so much for your cooperation.
Elementary Student Handbook
Please read the student handbook. As a district, we are committed to fostering respect, responsibility, and safety in all our schools through our updated Code of Conduct. This initiative reflects a collaborative effort among all elementary schools to support students in developing these essential skills for both their academic journey and everyday life.

Ready, Set, Belong: 5 Ways to Prepare for a Positive Start
Whether your child is entering elementary, middle, or high school, the start of a new school year brings a mix of excitement, anticipation, and sometimes a little uncertainty. While each stage of development presents unique experiences, there are a few universal strategies that can help students of all ages feel prepared, connected, and confident.
1. Get Back into a Routine
A week or two before school starts, begin returning to school-year routines. Younger children can practice bedtime and morning routines, while older students can reset sleep schedules and organize school materials.
2. Build a Sense of Belonging
Connecting with familiar peers can make returning to school feel easier. Plan a playdate for younger children or encourage older students to connect with friends before the first day.
3. Get Familiar with the School Routine
Help your child know what to expect. Younger children can practice drop-off, while older students can review schedules, transportation, locker combinations, or classroom locations.
4. Encourage Voice and Agency
Help your child practice speaking up, asking for help, and solving everyday problems. Talk through situations such as forgetting lunch, getting lost, missing the bus, or needing help. Older students can practice emailing a teacher or asking a question on their own.
5. Talk About Their Feelings
Make time to talk about excitement, worry, or uncertainty. Help your child make a simple plan, such as talking to a Trusted Adult, reaching out to a friend, or asking a teacher for help.
