Great Week of Instruction & Activities, Track Meeting, and Upcoming Events

This week we had some great lessons and learning activities! There are some great things going on in our classrooms! Ask your students about them!

Our Winter Sports seasons have come to an end. Our teams had great winter sports seasons! We continued to see improvement and relationships strengthen over the season of the season. Thank you to all the student-athletes for their dedication, time, and effort. Thank you to the parents/guardians, and families for being there, for allowing your students to represent our school. Thank you to the coaches for building a foundation and a relationship that will continue to grow over the years. We look forward to the future working as a team.

Coach Josh Holland (Varsity Track Coach) held a meeting this week for any middle school students who are interested in middle school track. Our Middle School Track Coaches are Macy Hahn & Emily Zysk. Forms/paperwork were handed out and need to be returned. All students who wish to participate must have a current physical on file with the school.

Our 8th grade field trip is scheduled for Monday, March 3rd. They are heading to Busch Stadium for a tour of the museum, stadium, and some behind the scenes areas! Permission slips were handed out and should be returned with payment before Feb 21st. (see form below)

Valentine's Day is Friday, February 14th..........Any Valentines that are dropped off at school will remain in the office until the end of the day. We do not encourage valentines to be brought to school.

Here is a link to the school district calendar for the year. We have many fall activities coming up!

Our students have completed Exact Path diagnostic testing for 2nd semester. They assessed over English/Language Arts/Reading & Math. They are now focused on individual learning paths based on their own levels of mastery. The Exact Path program assigns them lessons and activities based on their individual levels on mastery. Each students should complete 14 competencies in English/Reading & Math over the course of the 2nd semester (standards in their current grade level). Have your students login at home and show you where they are on their grade level lessons and activities. (Edmentum Exact Path)

RTI teachers run missing assignment reports for their students. This process is a focus weekly. The students receive a weekly reward for NO missing assignments! Parents/Guardians can login at any time to see grades & assignments.

Grades.........D & F lists are looked at every week and the students receive a hard copy to bring home, have signed, and return to school. This procedure has been in place each week of the school year. You can see your students grades 24/7 by logging into (School Insight) Teacher Ease. If your son or daughter has a D and/or F in one of their classes they will have a form to return to school. For one reason or another sometimes these forms don't make it home. Please check on your students grade periodically, or as often as needed. Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, March 17th. Please do not wait until then to focus on your students in danger of failing grades. Our teachers can always be contacted and want what's best for our students.

If any students have two or more failing grades we will have family discussions, and/or communication. Coaches are also running reports and keep track of their athletes. If any student-athletes have two or more failing grades they are not eligible to participate in contests. (See Student Handbook/MSHSSA regulations)

Middle School sports have begun. (See sports schedules below)

One of our focuses this year is on Student Attendance. We are aiming for 95% or higher. We will be giving out attendance rewards over the course of the school year!

You can review policies/procedures in the Middle School Handbook.

February (Caring)

FEBRUARY: CARING

Caring is made up of two parts: a concern for others and a passion for an ideal, belief, or cause. Here are some ways you can show that you care:

¨ Show COMPASSION—notice when others are uncomfortable or suffering and try to help. ¨ Show EMPATHY—understand how others feel.

¨ Show CHARITY—give more of your time, energy, and money to help others. ¨ Show MERCY—forgive when others make mistakes.

¨ Show FORGIVENESS—try to understand a wrong-doing, accept and move on. ¨ Show CONVICTION—speak up when you believe something’s wrong.

¨ Show COMMITMENT—be willing to pay the price and work hard for what you believe.

¨ Show PERSISTENCE—be determined not to give up!

¨ Show ENDURANCE—follow through on your plans.
