Our students have continued to exhibit our BARK expectations into October. From the beginning of the school year through the month of October 93% of our students have received 1 or fewer behavior referrals.
The SWPBS team will be meeting with a group of student representatives from the Intermediate School at our November meeting to get their input for this school year and we plan to meet with representatives from Grandview at our December meeting.
As the year moves along, we look forward to celebrating the students' positive behaviors. So far this year students have earned a total of 4,146 BARK bones.

November is all about Emotions in Classroom Champions!
This month, our athlete mentor, Sean Hollander teaches our students all about emotions!
When you're centered, you feel calm, in control, and able to make responsible decisions. When you're feeling strong emotions like anger, despair, frustration, or even elation or pride, it's important to name the emotion you're feeling, and then find a way to get back to a place of calm control, or find your center. Finding your center looks different for everyone!
Through the Emotions unit, students will explore various ways to get back to center and move on — deep breathing, taking a drink of water, going for a short walk, and taking a moment to plan next steps are some options to explore. While the goal of this unit is to give students the tools they need to name their strong emotion, find their center, and make decisions, it's equally important to ensure that students know that these strong emotions are normal, and not wrong or bad.
Our Citizen of the Month trait for November will be recognizing students who manage emotions appropriately.
