📝 Principal's Corner
Straight from the Top!
At Southwest Preparatory School – Seguin, every Eagle is more than a student—they are part of a family. Through our SOAR expectations of Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect, we foster a culture where students are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. This year, our Big Give campaign theme is "Fuel the Flight, Fund the Future," and we are inviting our community to invest directly in opportunities that help our Eagles soar.
Funds raised through The Big Give will create an immediate and meaningful impact on our campus by supporting classroom innovation grants, instructional resources, student incentives and recognition programs, extracurricular activities, and campus student impact projects. These investments allow our teachers to bring creative ideas to life, provide engaging learning experiences, recognize student achievements, and expand opportunities that enrich learning beyond the classroom.
Every donation, regardless of size, helps us build a stronger future for our students. Together, we can empower our Eagles with the tools, experiences, and support they need to succeed. Join us in helping our students reach new heights—Fuel the Flight. Fund the Future.
💙 SWPREP Core Value of the Month
Patriotism
Student Focus:
"I show respect and love for my country by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance each day and honoring the values it stands for."
Why it matters:
Patriotism reminds us that we’re part of something bigger than ourselves. Taking a moment each day to pledge our allegiance isn’t just a routine—it’s a chance to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy and the responsibilities we share as American citizens.
Real-World Reward:
Showing respect for our country builds character, unity, and pride that extends beyond the classroom. These qualities help you become a thoughtful, engaged citizen—traits that will serve you well in college, your career, and your community.
💛 Capturing Kids Hearts Trait of the Month
Empathy
What is Empathy?
Empathy is understanding and feeling what others are experiencing.
Why focus on Empathy?

Guidance Goodies
Helping Your Child Set Goals & Embrace Challenges
As the school year gets underway, September is the perfect time to help your child set meaningful goals—both academically and personally. Many students fall into the mindset of doing “just enough to pass,” but long-term success comes when they challenge themselves to go beyond the minimum.
You can encourage your child by asking questions like:
What do you want to accomplish this semester?
What’s one area you’d like to improve in?
How can I support you in reaching your goal?
For our middle and high school families, goal-setting also connects directly to our College and Career Scholarship Program. Students who commit to excellent attendance, strong academics, positive behavior, and volunteering can earn up to $300 each semester to support their future college, trade, or technical school plans.
Qualifications:
- Maintain an "A" average with all classes
- Have at least 95% attendance
- Have no discipline records
- Pass all state-administered tests
- Complete community service hours
- 2 Hours/ semester for students in 6-8th grades
- 4 Hours/ semester for students in 9-12th grades
This month, as we begin fundraising for the scholarship program, we encourage you to talk with your child about setting one academic and one personal goal. Your guidance and encouragement make all the difference in helping them see challenges not as obstacles, but as opportunities to grow and succeed.
