Support our School Improvement Team
BRES is looking for parent(s) interested in supporting our School Improvement Team. This team meets once a month from 5-6pm to discuss our School Improvement Plan and ways we can better support our students at BRES. Your input and guidance would be a valuable asset to this team. Please contact our Community School Coordinator, Kevin Weis at kevin.weis@fcps.org if you are interested.

Attendance Updates
8 is GREAT!
In elementary school, every day matters. Students build important skills in reading, math, and problem-solving that lay the foundation for future learning. Missing even a few days can make it harder to catch up, impact friendships, and lower confidence. By aiming for 8 or fewer absences this school year, families help ensure their children stay on track, grow socially and academically, and are ready for success in the years ahead.
Grade Level Competitions
Each month grades will compete for the best attendance. In September we will recognize the grade with the highest attendance rate. The grade with the highest percentage will earn a big prize! Help your student and their classmates by aiming to be at school every single day!
Family Fun Night - September 24th
Our first of four Family Fun Nights will be September 24th at 5:30pm. This year we are hoping to take these events to a new level of fun, learning, and engagement. Each event will combine topics your students learn about in school and help families understand more about those topics. Our first event is Heart, Mind & Motion: A Creative SEL Celebration. This event will combine, writing, reading, art, and movement. Families will get an idea of how BRES teaches social emotional learning and will also give families ideas to take home with them.
Another goal in our Family Fun Nights is to bring healthy dinners to share at the conclusion of the event. For this event we will be catering from Noodle and Company. Please click the RSVP below to let us know if you plan to attend.

After School Clubs Starting Soon...
City Parks and Rec
We have a wonderful partnership with Frederick City Parks and Rec here at BRES. Starting this week we'll have our first of many after school clubs starting. Check out the link below to sign up for Sports Club, which focuses on all sports, or Art & Crafts Club, taught by our very own Mrs. Mayer.
Keep an eye out for this site for future clubs. In October we'll have STEM club and Soccer Club. If you are in need of financial assistance with these clubs feel free to contact BRES for help in that process.
Be on the lookout for sign up for Girls on the Run and Good News Club.
BRES Student and Family Support Form
Need help with something but you just don't know where to start? Want staff at BRES to be aware of something that might impact your student but you don't know who to reach out to? The link below is our NEW BRES Student and Family Support Form. It allows you to reach out to the BRES Community Team with any situation you may have. Once you complete this form it will be share with Mr. Weis, our Community School Coordinator, or Iris Perez, one of our Community Liaisons. After that they will work with the proper staff members in the building to collaborate with you to ensure you and your students are in the best position possible to be successful at school.

Student Information Cards
We are no longer using the Online Student Information Card. Teachers will be sending home a paper copy of the Student Information Card. Please review it, make any changes if necessary, and fill out back and sign. Please send this back to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.
Thank you!
Hearing and Vision Screening
Hearing and Vision Screening will take place on September 16th & 17th for all students in Pre-K, Kindergarten (if not screened in Pre-K), 1st grade, and new enterers to the Maryland public school system. A rescreen date has been set for October 7th. Maryland State Law mandates this screening. Parents/guardians who have an objection to this screening based on their church or religion practices must submit a request for their child to be exempt from screening. All written requests must be submitted to the health room by September 15th.
Please make sure your child wears his/her glasses or brings them to school on screening days. If you have any questions, please contact the health room at 227-203-1849.
The Veggie Van is Coming to BRES!
The Farm to School Frederick Veggie Van will be here at BRES throughout the month of September. This Van provides fresh, local, produces at low costs. As you can see above they will join us at Poppin in the Park on September 5th. For the rest of September they will be parked in our parking lot in the mornings. We will have a process in place to support families parking to visit the Veggie Van each Friday morning. We hope you enjoy this opportunity. If this is an enjoyable service for our community we will continue to look for ways to bring them back to BRES.
Butterfly Ridge School Store Closing Soon!
Butterfly Ridge has collaborated with Custom Imprints to create a school store! The sale will end September 12th. Custom Imprints will then process all orders to be sent out. If you choose the "Pick Up" option for shipping it will be free. When orders are completed BRES will pick up all orders that used this option and put them in students backpacks to take home.
We hope this store is something you enjoy. We plan to open the store again for a holiday sale. As always we embrace feedback if you have types of clothing or designs you'd be interested in seeing for future stores.
