Principal's Message
Hello Davis families!
Welcome to Week 38!
Seven years is a long time to spend in any one place, and I am truly grateful that during this time I have had the privilege of serving as your principal at Davis Elementary School. From the very beginning, I felt welcomed into a community built on support, resilience, compassion, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every child. Over these years, I have had the honor of celebrating milestones with your families, watching students grow academically and personally, and building relationships that I will always cherish.
One of the greatest joys of my time at Davis has been watching your children grow alongside my own. Together, we have celebrated accomplishments, supported one another through challenges, and created countless memories that will stay with me for years to come. Whether it was attending navigating COVID and distance learning, welcoming families to Harvest Festival, cheering on students during performances and celebrations, visiting classrooms, or simply greeting students each morning, every moment has reminded me how special the Davis community truly is.
I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. Our students have demonstrated perseverance, kindness, and determination, and our families have continued to partner with us in meaningful ways to support student success. The strength of Davis has always come from the people who make up this community—our students, families, teachers, and staff—and I am deeply thankful to have been part of it.
As I begin the next chapter of my professional journey, I do so with gratitude and confidence in the future of Davis Elementary. The teachers and staff at Davis care deeply about the success and well-being of every student, and I know this community will continue to come together to support one another and help students thrive. Davis is a place filled with heart, dedication, and pride, and those qualities will continue to shine for years to come.
Thank you for the trust, support, and kindness you have shown me throughout my time as principal.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your children’s educational journey and for the many memories we have created together. Davis will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will forever be grateful to have been part of this incredible community.

Student Spotlight
Each week, we are proud to highlight students who have been nominated by teachers and staff for demonstrating exceptional enthusiasm for learning, dedication in the classroom, and the many ways they embody what it means to be a Davis Tiger.
Whether it’s through academic effort, kindness toward others, leadership, or a positive attitude, these students stand out and deserve to be celebrated.
This week, our Student Spotlight features several Tigers. First to be celebrated is Brianna P. H.! Mrs. Lima shares that Brianna has shown tremendous growth on her iReady Math Diagnostic this year. Not only did she achieve her typical growth, but she also achieved her Stretch Growth! Brianna also achieved the highest score in the class on the Math Diagnostic. Congrats, Brianna!
Also being celebrated this week are three of Ms. Sawyer's second grade students! Her first student is Gabriel G. R. Ms. Sawyer shares that Gabriel has worked so hard this year and has gone from a 310 to a 477 red to blue reader in DIBELS! Ms. Sawyer truly appreciates his efforts on each assignment and his respectful behavior daily. Great Job, Gabriel!
Another of Ms. Sawyer's students who is deserving of recognition is Karter R.! Ms. Sawyer is highlighting Karter because Karter has come so far! She is always so respectful both in and out of the classroom. She tries her best on her assignments. She is always one of the first ones to offer to help with any task! Thank you, Karter!
Our final Student Spotlight of the year goes to Lucas G.! Huge shout out to Lucas for being one of the most hard working students in class! Ms. Sawyer wants him to know that his efforts do not go unnoticed. He is an amazing class participant and enjoys math as well as writing. He currently holds 265 Class Dojo points! Way to go, Lucas!

Morning Dropoff
Please remember that the front gate does not open until 7:40 am as there is no supervision for students prior to this time. It is important that students come to school dressed appropriately, including wearing school-appropriate shoes. If your student comes to school in Crocs or sandals, they will be asked to sit out during PE and may not go in the barkbox or onto the fields during recess due to safety concerns.
Students who wish to eat breakfast in the cafeteria should arrive no later than 7:45 am. For students arriving by bus, please proceed immediately to the cafeteria. The cafeteria will be cleared out 15 minutes after the latest bus arrives to ensure that students do not miss instructional time.

Picking Students Up
Please remember that if your student has not yet been dismissed and you are in the loading zone, staff will be asking you to park or loop around to allow other parents to load their students who are waiting. We also ask that you model safe behaviors and use the crosswalk. Our Tigers know this is a Tiger Tenet and a way to be safe!
We thank you for your patience and for working with our staff to ensure dismissal occurs smoothly.
Have You Reported Your Students' Absence?
If your student will be out, be sure to call the office at 209-953-8301 to report your their absence. Students who have a medical or dental appointment will need to bring a note from their doctor upon their return.
Additionally, it is important your student arrives on time, ready to learn. School starts at 8:00 am and students are expected to be in their classes at this time. If students are arriving to school late, they are missing critical time that sets the structure for their day, including instruction and warm-up activities.
