McKelvey Primary
March 12, 2026
Dear McKelvey Primary Families,
PTO Trivia night was a huge success and a great time. Big thank you to PTO and all of the volunteers who helped.
It was wonderful seeing everyone at our Art, Music, Books event on Tuesday evening. We hope you enjoyed it! I want to use another opportunity to thank everyone.
Families- Thank you for supporting your children and our school. We are so glad you were able to see some of the amazing work the students do. Big thanks to the families who also volunteered at our book fair.
Mrs. Parker- What an amazing show! There is so much work that goes into planning and preparing for a student concert and it never disappoints!
Mrs. Durrwachter- I have never been to an art show like that before. Not only does she motivate students to produce such amazing work, she is so creative in finding unique ways to showcase the art. I hope you enjoyed the glow art as much as I did!
Mrs. Reames- Running a book fair is no small task. We are grateful to have a librarian that gives so much time in effort to making sure our students enjoy the book fair, whether they are buying a book or not.
Students- They were wonderful! It takes a lot of time and effort to learn songs and movements. They were like professionals up there! (6-7 year old professionals 🫣) Wasn't their class work amazing too?!? They are learning and growing so much each day.
Staff- There is so much work that goes on behind the scenes, and we are so fortunate to have the people we have here at McKP. Everyone is always willing to step in and help wherever it is needed.
Next week is spring break. We hope the students enjoy some downtime. We look forward to seeing them back at school on Monday the 23rd!
Sincerely,
Dr. Christina Pliske

The Read-A-Thon is Starting Soon!
We are excited to kick off our McKelvey Read-A-Thon starting Monday, March 23, 2026! This is a fun and meaningful way for our students to build strong reading habits while helping support our school.
Getting started is simple! We encourage you to activate your child’s reader account today by clicking the link below and following the quick instructions:
https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/323831393231/1?utm=email
The Read-A-Thon is a great way to motivate students to read more while inviting friends and family to cheer them on and support their efforts. Every page read helps students grow their reading skills—and the funds raised help support programs and opportunities for our McKelvey students.
Our goal is to have every student participate, so we hope your family will join the fun and help make this year’s Read-A-Thon a huge success!
Thank you for supporting our readers and our school.
Hosted by McKelvey PTO.

School Calendars
Below is a link to our district calendar (click the blue button) as well as a snapshot of the half and no school days throughout the year. We know unplanned absences will occur, but your child's attendance is extremely important. We miss them when they are gone and they miss important learning and social interaction when they are not at school. If possible, when planning for appointments and/or vacations, please attempt to use the afternoons of half days or days off school throughout the year.
