Hello from Principal Guditus
Hello Eddy Families,
I hope that you had a great weekend! Summer will be here soon...it's inevitable?! Even our Eddy vegetable garden isn't sure...we have had to postpone two weeks of rotation in the vegetable garden because the plants just haven't had enough warmth to grow. I've been in touch with our Cape Cod Master Gardener volunteers, who said 6/9 should be a good gardening day considering the forecasted warmth this week.
Last week I ended up getting incredibly sick and sadly doctor's orders were to stay home on Wednesday and Thursday, and as a result, I had to miss the art show and concert on Wednesday. The reports were magnificent. I am so proud of our students, and so thankful to Mrs. Faris, Mr. Glancy, and Ms. Mason for their hard work with our students, and to you, our parents and caregivers, for supporting the arts!
We have officially entered field trip season (please make note of the list below at the bottom of the newsletter). I am so thankful to our staff for all their hard work to create learning opportunities for our students outside of the classroom. The planning, time, and effort does not go unnoticed! I have reminded students that this is an amazing opportunity for them, and that I expect students to be Eddy READY on field trips as well, including on the bus rides, and with a temporary teacher, whomever they may be (National Park Ranger, volunteer with Audubon, or employee of the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy). If you can kindly reiterate these expectations to students, I would appreciate it, as this ensures that these great learning opportunities are meaningful and a good use of instructional time.
Transitions are underway for our Brewster second graders and fifth graders. Mrs. Bono, our Eddy Adjustment Counselor, and I will be visiting second graders on Monday at Stony Brook, sharing information with them about Eddy Elementary School and answering questions. There will be two parent/caregiver info sessions for second grade families on 6/1 @ 2:15pm and 6/2 @ 5:00pm in the Eddy Library. Fifth grade transition has been underway for months now, including visits here at Eddy by middle school musicians and staff, and now two visits to Nauset Regional Middle School (one in January, and one this past Friday). Thank you to all the fifth grade parents and caregivers who volunteered on Friday at NRMS, and thank you to the NRMS staff for hosting us!
I'm excited that on Thursday, we will continue a tradition of having Nauset seniors from Brewster walk through Eddy and Stony Brook. This is a great chance for our younger students to see the students they will one day become! We typically play pomp and circumstance and cheer on students!
This Thursday, 6/4 @ 6:00pm at Brewster Town Hall, the Regionalization and Efficiency final report findings will be shared. This will occur this week and next at each of the Nauset towns' town halls, and you are welcome to attend the one at Brewster Town Hall on Thursday @ 6pm. occur on Thursday, June 4 @ 6:00pm at Brewster Town Hall. This meeting will occur in each of Nauset's four town's town halls. For more information, please click here.
Field Day is this Friday, June 5, and we are still looking for volunteers! Click here to sign up! You can volunteer for an hour, all school day, or anywhere in between based on your availability to assist with running various stations. (Rain date is Monday, June 8.)
Finally, don't forget that the Great Eddy Reading Challenge ends tomorrow, June 1! Please return any slips to Mrs. Meyer by end of the school day tomorrow. The winning class will be revealed on Tuesday and the golden trophy awarded!
Here's to a great week of learning at Eddy!
Best,
Steve Guditus

Student Supply Ordering For Next School Year 26-27
We are partnering with 1st Day School Supplies to provide convenience for families for supply lists. This is entirely optional, and is offered solely as a convenience for families. If you would like to purchase items on the supply lists for next year, the deadline is July 1. All items are high quality (think: Crayola crayons, Ticonderoga pencils), and because the company buys in bulk, the cost is typically comparable or cheaper than going to Staples or Target or Amazon. Items ship directly to Eddy at no cost, and we will provide the supplies to students directly the first week of school. This is not a fundraiser, so all prices come directly from the company. If you prefer to purchase items on the supply list yourselves, that is not a problem at all.
A reminder that the deadline to order a supply box is July 1.

Brewster Elementary Schools: Best in Show!
πCongratulations to Brewster Elementary Schools for being awarded BEST IN SHOW at the 2026 Brewster in Bloom Parade! Thank you especially to Ms. Mason for designing and creating the amazing float and working with students on the artwork, and to Mrs. Faris for directing the marching band. Despite the cold and the rain, we did it! Bravo! π
Green Card Winners The Last Two Weeks
Congratulations to our green card winners the last two weeks: Layla and Sylvie in fifth grade, Maddie and KJ in fourth grade, and EJ and Amelia in third grade. One student in each grade is picked each week to be recognized for demonstrating our school's core values of Respect, Empathy, Accountability, Determination, and Your Best. A job well done to all students who earned green cards this week!

Fifth Grade End of Year Events
Please mark your calendars: three fifth grade end-of-year events:
- Eddy Elementary School Fifth Grade Social, Thursday, June 18 (early evening time TBD). Eddy students are invited to our Eddy cafeteria and gym for a class social with dancing, gym time, food, and beverages. We will be asking for parent/caregiver chaperones as we get closer to the date.
- Fifth Grade Moving Up Ceremony, Wednesday, June 24 @ 9am. Fifth grade students will be celebrated here at Eddy for completing elementary school as we wish them well on their next chapter in middle school!
Toys and fidgets at school
We have been having a lot of student conflict about fidgets and stuffed animals here at school this week. The number of fidgets and stuffed animals has grown in recent weeks and is becoming a distraction to learning. I am kindly requesting that you help with this by ensuring that students keep fidgets and stuffed animals at home. If your student needs to use a fidget at school, we have some here at school and your student can borrow one from their teacher.
Thank you for your help with this!
