HT Happenings Sept. 20, 2026
Dear Holy Trinity Families,
What a wonderful week we had at Holy Trinity! It has been great to see our students settling into the school year, building relationships, and getting into the rhythm of their daily routines. Our 4th-8th grade students worked hard this week as they completed their MAP testing. We appreciate the effort and focus they showed throughout the process, and we look forward to using this information to better understand and support each student’s learning throughout the year.
Our 1st-3rd grade students also had a special opportunity to grow in their faith through a Teaching Mass led by Fr. Anthony. The students were able to learn more about the different parts of the Mass and why we celebrate them, making it a wonderful experience for our students as they continue to grow in their faith. We thank all of the parents and families that were also able to join us for this wonderful Mass!
We also want to extend a big thank-you to our PTU for meeting this week and beginning to put some ideas on the table for the school year. We are grateful for the parents who are willing to give their time, share their ideas, and help make Holy Trinity an even stronger school community. We are excited to see where some of these ideas lead throughout the year! Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school, our teachers, and our students. We hope everyone has a wonderful and restful weekend!
Live Different,
Ms. Flanagan and Mr. Kaufhold

Please place your October lunch orders by Saturday, Sept. 26 at midnight.
PLEASE NOTE: After the ordering deadline, we are unable to place or add lunch orders. Please be sure to submit your orders before the system closes. Also, remember not to order lunch on days your student may not be in school due to field trips, appointments, or other scheduled absences.
Volunteers are always needed for lunch and recess! Parents earn dress-down passes for each student when they volunteer.

Please keep an eye on HT Happenings for future lunch information and deadlines!
Specials
At Holy Trinity, our Specials program is structured a little differently for our intermediate and junior high students:
-
Grades 4–5: Students rotate through five specials on a five-week cycle, spending a full week in each. In addition, they visit the library once a week for book checkout/renewals and to access our PBIS store.
-
Grades 6–8: Junior high students rotate through their specials on a six-week cycle, also spending a full week focused on each class.
Preschool procedures
This is a drop off reminder for all Preschool parents: Please make sure to start forming a second car line in the morning only if the first line is full and backed up to Nagel Road. Once the gates open, please allow the first line to go through first before the second line starts. Please do not merge the second line into the first line. Thank you!

Virtus Training
Per the requirements set forth by the Diocese of Cleveland, all volunteers need to complete
VIRTUS training to volunteer at Holy Trinity or St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
The following requirements apply to any volunteer (i.e. parent, grandparent, sibling over 18
years old, Homeroom Parent, Lunch Duty, coach, Committee Chair, PSR, etc.)
This is a one-time process and it's simple if you follow the steps below!
All volunteers must:
1. Create an account, click here.
- If you do not have an account, please create one by clicking First-Time Registrant > Begin
the Registration Process > Select your organization - choose CLEVELAND, OH (DIOCESE) >
Create your User ID and Password.
- You will be able to choose Holy Trinity or St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception as your
volunteer location (or any other school within the Diocese including high schools).
2. Complete a background check
- For new VIRTUS accounts, please use Selection.com through your VIRTUS account. The
cost is $30.
- In your VIRTUS account, click on the Toolbox tab > then click Selection.com Background
Check and follow the prompts.
NOTE: Please use your name as it appears on your current driver's license/State issued I.D.
- If you already have a VIRTUS account and had a background check using fingerprints over
5 years ago, you will need to conduct a background check through Selection.com listed
above.
3. Attend a VIRTUS "Protecting God's Children" live training session
- In your VIRTUS account, go to the Training tab > Live Training > Pre-register for an
upcoming Live training > select a local training to attend.
- You can attend any training session listed that is convenient for you. I will be continually
adding training sessions for volunteers if you cannot attend one of the other training
sessions.
4. Read and sign acknowledgement forms for the Diocese
- Standards of Conduct for Ministry
- Policy for the Safety of Children in Matters of Sexual Abuse
(I will email you these documents to review, and have you sign the acknowledgement
forms.)
5. Read and sign the acknowledgement form for the Parish
- Uncompensated Volunteers
(I will give you this form to complete.)
6. Read the monthly VIRTUS training bulletins emailed to you from VIRTUS
- Each month you will receive an email from VIRTUS with a training bulletin (a short article to
read and a question to answer about it).
- You must be up to date on the last 24 months / 2-years’ worth of training bulletins to be
compliant for as long as you volunteer.
- In your VIRTUS account, click on the Training tab > Training Compliance > and Training
Report and you will see all the unread training bulletins that you have.
- If you already have a VIRTUS account and haven't been reading the monthly training
bulletins, please log in and start reading them. This will help me when I review accounts for
compliance if you already have this step up to date.
All volunteers/employees having Holy Trinity or St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception
listed in their VIRTUS account will have their account reviewed to make sure they’re in
compliance with the training and background check required by the Diocese of Cleveland.
If any training or updates are needed, you’ll be advised via email to complete them before
being able to volunteer.
Please reach out to VIRTUS Administrator Dawn Sirl if you have any questions

Dillon’s Place
Dillon Franciscus is a former Holy Trinity student from the class of 2015. Dillon left us way too young. In Dillon’s memory, the Franciscus family founded Dillon’s Place, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping recently discharged veterans find their next mission in civilian life.
To honor Dillon and support his family, we invited families last year to participate in or help promote Dillon’s Place 5K Run and Half-Murph. Many Holy Trinity alumni, current families and staff members were in attendance.
This year, Dillon’s Place Run and Half-Murph will be teaming up with Lorain County Veterans Services Commission and REVS, Race to End Veteran Suicide, this year on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Ely Square Park, 400 Broad Street, Elyria.
