The News
Well, that's a wrap on the 2025-26 school year! Congratulations to the 100th graduating class of Phil Campbell High School- the Class of 2026! I am really proud of this class. They have shown great leadership in the halls of our school, on the fields and courts, and in clubs and activities. I have no doubt they will go and achieve great things!
I have posted a link to Joseph Romans Photography pictures from graduation if you would like to make a purchase. There are also plenty of pictures from the week that my son and I took of graduation activities.
We also learned this week that ACT made a scoring error on their tests. This resulted in a few things for our school: 1) All but 22 juniors had an increase of one or two points on their test, 2) the overall class average increased by almost a point tying them with this year's class for the highest ACT score on school record, and 3) we had one student, Isaac Duboise, join the 30+ club. Congratulations!
This will be the last regular newsletter I will send out until late July as we set to start a news school year. I may send one or two out between now and then to inform you of things going on during the summer, however. I will go ahead list some of those things below for you to plan:
Report Cards can be picked up Tuesday at the school from 8am to 3pm. The list of students needing Summer School will be attached to the student's report card. 7th and 8th grade students are considered promoted unless noted on the report card.
On June 10 we will offer a full day of ACT Prep on our campus. This is open to any PCHS student who is motivated to achieve a higher score on the ACT. If you plan on attending please reach out to me via phone call or email just so I can have an idea of how many to expect. We will offer this high quality instruction whether it is one person or 20.
On June 11 we will have a meet-and-greet with our new band director, Mr. Jayson Tucker. This will be in the band room. Mr. Tucker is excited to be coming to Phil Campbell and we look forward to him putting his imprint on our band and music department.
Summer Sports- Most of our sports teams have been chosen for the 2026-27 school year. Summer practice, workouts, and play dates will begin next week. If you made a team, you are expected to be a workouts, practice and games. We have designated two full weeks during the summer where coaches can have no contact with players- one in June and one in July. This gives students the opportunity to have a summer and not be consumed with sports. It's a time for vacations, relaxation and rejuvenation for our players and coaches alike. It also gives parents a break.
July 27 will be schedule pick up day for all grades. Seniors will go first. We will announce times for all grades at a later date. This will also be the day for students to reserve parking spots and lockers.
August 4 at 6pm there will be a mandatory meeting for 7th grade students and parents. Everyone is expected to be there to meet teachers and get a tour of the school. Important information will be discussed and forms handed out.
August 11 at 6pm there will be a mandatory meeting for all Seniors and a parent. We will discuss all things Senior Year.
Have A Great Summer!

As always, we encourage students not to wait until the last minute to schedule appointments. Times tend to fill quickly, and we will have limited makeup opportunities especially once school starts back.
A $45 booking fee is required at the time of booking in order to reserve the student’s appointment time. This helps us secure their spot on the schedule and allows us to properly prepare for each session.

We celebrated some longtime service to our school this week. Coach Greg Winstead (the invisible person who started retirement early), William Stacy who rebuilt our award winning band, and Harry Mattox our aviation instructor. We appreciate their service to our school and community and we will miss them.
Phil Campbell High School would like to welcome Jayson-Michael Tucker as our new Marching Bobcat Band director and music instructor. Mr. Tucker, a native of New Hope, MS, recently received his Masters of Music from Campbellsville University in Kentucky. He also served as the assistant band director at Campbellsville Independent Schools. Mr. Tucker is a graduate of UNA where he was a section leader in the UNA Marching Band and the basketball pep band. He served one year as the band director at Thartpown HS. He was also part of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp and interned with the Russellville High School Marching Band.
