Hudson BOE Meeting Recap
October 29, 2026
Hudson City Schools Board of Education Summary/October 26, 2026 Meeting
Legislative Update
Superintendent Dana Addis provided a legislative update to the BOE, which focused on property taxes and EdChoice. He also discussed the new Student Athlete Mobility Act. This is legislation that allows a public high school student to petition to participate in a sport at a neighboring public school if the student’s school does not offer that sport.
Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, every board of education that is a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) and operates a high school offering extracurricular activities had to adopt a policy implementing the law. This new legislation does not apply to middle school students. For the presentation, see here:
Ready, Set, Relax- November 2, 2026
This coming Monday is a Ready, Set, Relax date- a day set aside for students to have no homework for the evening. It's a time for families to have dinner together, watch a movie, play a game, or just relax. Hudson Community First leads this initiative.
Portrait of an Explorer Day- Empathetic Contributor
The next Portrait of an Explorer Day is Tuesday, November 3rd. Students will focus on learning about being an Empathetic Contributor. There are six characteristics in the district's POE, with six days set aside each year to focus on each one. Students and staff are asked to wear Hudson gear on the POE days!
Winter HCER Program Guide Approved
The Winter 2027 Hudson Community Education and Recreation Program Guide will be arriving in mailboxes soon. The guide was approved by the Hudson BOE Monday evening.
Parents may want to check out the Explorer Days, which are fun field trips offered on days when school is not in session. There are plenty of adult offerings as well, including Mah Jongg for beginners, and Tai Chi.
