Hawk Happenings
September 2025 Edition
Back To School
We want to thank everyone for helping us kick off a smooth and successful start to the school year! While this was a significant change for everyone, these moves will only make us smarter and stronger. Back-to-School Night was a fantastic success, with a wonderful turnout from our families. Our students are already busy learning, making new friends, and enjoying all that school has to offer, with so much more ahead this year. Our dedicated staff continue to work tirelessly to make every child’s learning experience fun, engaging, and meaningful.
Science Fun
Our 4th graders got hands-on with science by building model eyes to explore how vision works and investigate what can cause vision problems—learning that’s both fun and eye-opening!
Falling for Apples
Mrs. Mawer’s young engineers took on the exciting challenge of designing and building apple trappers! Using only paper and tape, they created clever tools to pick up and transport “apples,” putting their problem-solving and creativity skills to the test.
Fifth Grade Science Fun
Ms. Parente's and Ms. Trupp's class dove into the card game Eat or Be Eaten, building food chains and exploring how energy flows through an ecosystem—making science both interactive and fun!
More Fun in Fifth Grade
Mrs. Candelaria’s fifth graders put their descriptive language and close reading skills to the test by sketching and coloring a spooky creature with chilling accuracy. Let’s hope the “Spooky Slimy Ghost” won’t be haunting them for too long!
LiveSchool
This year, we’re excited to expand our citizenship program using LiveSchool, an easy-to-use app that helps track student behavior and growth. Each student will start with 100 positive points, and points will be deducted only if an infraction occurs that requires principal intervention.
Once you’ve downloaded the app and created an account, you’ll receive a weekly recap every Friday. For help setting up your account, please refer to the handout sent home with your child or contact the main office at sfowler@bogotaboe.com.
