Preschool Screening-Please see the attached flyer
Tewksbury Public Schools is offering screenings to students who reside in Tewksbury on the following dates and locations:
December 11, 2026 (At HEATH BROOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL) from 12:00-12:30 PM
February 26, 2027 (At DEWING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL) from 12:00-12:30 PM
April 9, 2027 (At DEWING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL) from 12:00-12:30 PM
Tewksbury Public Schools conducts periodic developmental screenings for three-and four-year-old children. This screening is designed to review a child’s development and to assist in determining appropriate supports that may be needed for developing preschool aged children.
The Tewksbury Integrated Preschool conducts screenings throughout the year and uses the DIAL-4 screening instrument. The screening team is composed of an Early Childhood Specialist, Speech and Language Pathologist and Preschool Teaching Assistants. The team is coordinated by the Principal/Preschool Coordinator. At the time of the screening, parents receive information about child development and also have the opportunity to speak with specialists regarding any concerns they may have about their child’s development. Children participate in the screening activities within the preschool classroom and have an opportunity to play in a small group to screen communication and social skills.

Math Corner
Tips from our Math Coaches
Math Corner: First Week
Math in a Minute: Math at the Grocery Store!
Your child is learning to recognize numbers and use math in the world around them. Everyday activities, like grocery shopping, are a great way to build number sense and encourage mathematical thinking!
Try this week's math activity: While shopping, ask your child to count 5 apples, find 3 bananas, or figure out how many apples you would have if you added one more.
Keep the conversation going! Ask your child, “How did you figure that out?” Encourage them to share their thinking and explain how they found their answer.
Remember: Math is everywhere! Even a quick trip to the grocery store can become a fun learning opportunity.
Math Corner: Second Week
Your child is learning that numbers can be represented in many different ways. Building these connections helps children develop a strong understanding of what numbers mean.
Try this week's math activity: Choose a number between 1 and 10. Ask your child to show that number using their fingers, claps, jumps, toys, or objects around the house. For example, can they show you 6 in three different ways?
Keep the conversation going! Ask your child, “Can you show me that number in another way?”
Remember: There is more than one way to represent a number! Have fun discovering all the possibilities together.

As I meet with families across our district, I want to hear your thoughts on what makes our schools special, where we can improve, and what cherished traditions we must protect. Together, we will look at new opportunities for growth and shape a shared vision for our schools over the next 5 to 10 years. Your voice matters!
