School Assembly Fun š
Dear OHMS Families,
We are off to a fantastic start to the school year, and I wanted to take a moment to share some of the exciting things happening at Oak Hill Middle School!
Our Open House had a wonderful turnout, and it was so great to see so many of you connecting with teachers and staff. This event really set the tone for the incredible community we have here at OHMS.
Our fall sports teams have kicked off their seasons with enthusiasm, demonstrating teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit. In addition, we have launched a variety of clubs to ensure students have opportunities to explore their interests and passions outside of the classroom.
We recently held our first school-wide assembly, which was filled with lots of fun and friendly competition. It was a fantastic way for students and staff to come together as a community. We also took the time to recognize our Students of the Month from each grade levelācongratulations to these students for their outstanding accomplishments!
In terms of safety, we've already completed our bus evacuation drills and reviewed bus safety with all students, ensuring that everyone knows the procedures to stay safe while traveling to and from school.
Our first school dance of the year was a huge success! A special thank you goes out to all the staff and chaperones who made this event so memorable. The night was filled with fun, and we couldnāt have done it without your help and all the generous donations that contributed to making the dance such a wonderful experience for our students.
We are also wrapping up our fall NWEA testing, and we look forward to sharing those reports with you at Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 13th from 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM. We will be sending out a sign-up sheet prior to that date to ensure you have a time slot that works for you.
Looking ahead, we have some more exciting events on the calendar! Our next school dance will be held on November 1st, and Picture Day is coming up on October 8th, with a re-take day scheduled for November 12th.
Please note that October 11th is an in-service day for our staff, and students will not be attending school on that day.
As a request, we have noticed some safety concerns during pick-up and drop-off times regarding adherence to speed limits and the need to be extra mindful of students crossing the road. We will continue to prioritize safety and make improvements, but we kindly ask that all families be especially alert and aware when driving on our premises, particularly during these heavily trafficked times.
We are incredibly proud of the amazing staff, students, and community we have here at OHMS. We encourage you to be a part of the fun and energy that make our school such a special place. Whether itās joining us on a field trip, chaperoning school dances, or even subbing in our school, weād love for you to get involved!
If being a part of our school community in a greater capacity interests you, please stop by and grab a volunteer form from our front office, or go online and fill out a substitute form.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to all the wonderful things still to come this year. Letās keep up the hard workāand of course, the fun!
Sincerely,
MaKayla Stevens

Habits of Work
Habits of Work at Oak Hill Middle School are used to assess student's behaviors and expectations. Additionally, they are also used to determine eligibility for extra & co-curricular activities. This eligibility check occurs roughly every three weeks over the school year and students are required to have 2's and above on all habits to continue with their activities. Please see the attached image that displays each habit and how they are assessed.
