  • Introductions & puzzle activity

  • Learning classroom expectations & how to problem solve when materials are forgotten. "Borrow box", "paper drawer" & "no bad seats" rule.

  • We went over the materials list needed by Monday, so binders can be set up for success.

IMPORTANT PLEASE MAKE SURE BINDERS ARE SETUP & READY FOR CLASS ON MONDAY

  • 1 " binder (no trapper keepers, please)

  • 7 dividers (label dividers in the following order: vocabulary, notes, WK sheets, maps, writing, resources, tests)

  • loose leaf paper placed in the very back of the binder

  • 1 Yellow highlighter (We will use the yellow highlighter regularly. Extras stored in locker suggested)

  • highlighters: 3 other colors (the newer pastel highlighter allow text to be easily seen)

  • colored pencils

  • ultra-fine Sharpie

  • earbuds (no wireless) or headphones

  • Sharpened pencils

  • Blue or black pens

Next Week in Class (August 25-29)

  • We will begin the Block A & B schedule. Mrs. Schumacher and I will guide the students through this and provide the schedule for the week.

  • Binders should be ready to go (see above). It is important students have the necessary materials, as students will begin to receive chapter resources.

  • Students will receive our first assignment direction sheet (we will place these at the front of binders) (I will detail further in next Friday’s Team 6B newsletter.)

  • Q1 essential question: "How do geographers look at the world?"

  • How does the geography of a region impact the development of its people? ...and eventually the emergence of a civilization.

Microsoft Teams: A short daily narrative of what we did in class is posted in the student’s ELA Microsoft Teams. As we progress through the year, digital copies of materials will be added to the “files” section of Teams in “Class Materials.”

This Week August 21st – 22nd

· I am looking forward to meeting all my new science students!!!

Next Week: August 25th – 29th

· We will begin our blocking schedule, which will be explained in detail to the students on Monday. Thet will love it!

Housekeeping:

· If your student is absent, they can chat with me through Teams and check in on our class OneNote notebook to see what is new.

· All activities should be completed by the end of each week.

· I ask the students to write down our class objectives every day to help keep themselves organized, as we usually do not have homework.

· I always keep a good copy of class notes in my OneNote notebook. The students can access them to double-check their work or to use it to help them complete the missing work.
