LMS Friends,
We have arrived in March and we’ll be springing forward soon! The feeling at LMS is that spring is in the air despite the snow on the ground, and some of those colder days.
Our transition to the third term is fast approaching. This brings us to the last trimester of the year. As we head into that last third, we begin to turn our attention to transitions and celebrations. In this week's Scoop for instance, there is information from Mrs. Allard as well as information from LHS for 8th grade families.
Last evening, we had a wonderful All District Band Concert where Grantham, Plainfield, LMS, and LHS concert bands rocked the Lebanon Opera House. If you missed the show, here is a link. It was great to see us all back together. We look forward to our All District Choral Concert on March 17th.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend. Sit back, and relax while you enjoy this week's Scoop!
The next Scoop will come out March 18th.
Regards,
John P. D'Entremont, Principal
Morning Drop-Off Reminder
Families can drop students off anywhere in the drop off zone which is along the sidewalk. The first place you stop is where you should drop.
5th and 6th grade families should not stop prematurely to drop off. Pull as far forward as you can, drop, and be safely on your way.
7th and 8th grade families should not keep their students in the car, and drive all the way to the bottom. If you stop, even at the top, it is still OK to drop off there.
March 16th - Last Day of Trimester 2
March 17th - All District Choral Concert
March 28th - No School
Another Snow Day?
STEM Camp @ Hypertherm over February Break
A small group of LMS students attended a STEM Camp @ Hypertherm over our most recent break. Students were able to dig into science, math, and engineering topics at Hypertherm. Except for last year, we have done this camp for a number of years. It was so great to get this terrific program back up and running this year! Here are some quotes from some of our campers:
"Something I loved about the Hypertherm STEM program was that we learned all about the company itself, and the people who work there. Throughout my time at Hypertherm, I learned about how Science, Technology, Engineering and Math are so important to our daily lives. I was most interested in learning about the water jet and plasma cutter as we got to use them as well. It was lots fun just to get an experience at the lab!" - Kalyani Jogdand, 7th Grade
"One of the best experiences I've ever had!" - Kaylee Howe, 8th Grade
"What I loved most about stem camp was learning more about Hypertherm and doing coding. I was most interested in the coding and 3d printing. It was fun to learn more about their equipment and how it is made and how Hypertherm started as a company." - Hunter Morgan, 8th Grade

Latest Update by Nancy Pageau
There continue to be changes to COVID guidelines. Information will be forthcoming from the District.
Although it is March, it continues to be cold outside. Students are going out for recess unless it is an unsafe temperature. Please remember to dress appropriately and a change of clothes is helpful.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please reach out to me.

Voluntary Pool Testing Signing-Up

For staff and students who are 18 years or older please use this link to sign up for voluntary testing.
When prompted please use the following access code:
- Lebanon Middle School: 81ZM9C
What will happen if a pool comes back positive?
We will follow this process for unconfirmed or confirmed positive cases:
If by chance a pool comes back positive, we will notify the staff and the families of those students in the pool that there is an unconfirmed positive case.
Students/staff in the pool will be asked to monitor for symptoms and will be tested two days later.
After the follow-up testing, those in the pool will be notified of either the negative or positive result.
The person who tested positive will be asked to isolate and close contacts will be notified per the procedures we have been following since the start of the pandemic. The Superintendent will also inform the larger community of the positive test result.

8th Grade Transition to LHS
Hello Eighth Graders and Parents!
Here is some exciting news for our eighth graders! You will have an opportunity to meet with the counselors from Lebanon High School on Tuesday, March 8th here at LMS! They will visit your social studies classes and speak with you about registering for classes for next school year. You will hear about all the different options you have for course selection next year.
Your child will receive a Program of Studies and course planning sheets. There is also an electronic version of the registration instructions, as well. You can go to the LHS website under Students -> Class information -> Incoming Students. Teachers of eighth graders will make recommendations as to which courses are most appropriate for your child next year. If you have any questions/concerns about these recommendations, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to working with our 8th graders on this next step of their journey!
