We did it...100 Days of In-Person Learning!
Thursday morning the Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade students were busy working on projects and learning more about the number 100!
First grade wrote about what they will be like when they are 100 years old!
The students in Suzanne Yorks' Class brought in 100 small items in baggies. All sorts of items came in; pennies, round disks, beads, Legos and much more. The class put their thinking caps on and worked to estimate which items would make the longest line when laid out across the gym floor. Boy were they excited to find out if their estimations were correct!
Olivia Dizon's shared this about what her class did in Kindergarten:
"In celebration of 100, today all of our activities were all “100” activities like,
coloring our 100th day crown after their morning work,
finishing their 100 years old writing activity,
cutting 100 small pieces of paper as a our 100th day sprinkles for the cupcake project,
writing missing numbers from 1-100,
using Q-tips to paint 100 dots,
stringing 100 beads to make a necklace,
singing our 100 days song
For movement we did 100 exercises like 10 jumping jacks, 10 running on place, etc. and added them to get 100. (Ooops! I forgot to download our 100th day photos)
YES, there is no doubt our children are 100 days smarter today!"
Third and Fourth Grade - Read Your Heart Out Day!
Thursday was read your heart out day (RYHOD) in third and fourth grade. This means they spent the day focusing on reading and writing.
To provide a “cozy atmosphere” as we read, students wore cozy/comfy clothes or pajamas,
slippers, and brought a flashlight. As you can see the students found all sorts of crazy, cozy spots to read throughout the day!
Celebrating 101 years of Women's Suffrage
Seventh-grade students learned about Washington's path to Women's Suffrage and celebrated 101 years of women's voting rights by creating pro-suffrage art featuring cats! This was done originally over 100 years ago to combat the antisuffragist ads comparing women to cats since they were too docile. History shows that was not the case at all!

The Reading Corner with Mrs. Samuel and Mrs. Snyder
Happy 100th Day of School! With so many concerns about stopping the spread of COVID-19, I am so immensely proud of our community that we have made it 100 days of in person learning this year! Keeping everyone safe and healthy takes effort from everyone (thank you especially, online students and parents!), so give yourselves a pat on the back!
To celebrate the 100th Day of School, I have linked to three lists of “The Top 100 Children’s Books”. It’s fun to see which ones you’ve read and which ones you’ve never heard of. Enjoy!

As for the top books at our school, so far this year the Dog Man books by Dav Pilkey and the Amulet books by Kazu Kibuishi have circulated the most, as well as any book about Minecraft, unicorns, super heroes, or horses. It’s so fun to see what trends happen in the library!
Happy Reading,
Mrs. Samuel

Valentine's Day Fun!
Barb Misday's 4th Grade Class Heart Symmetry (math/art)
This Valentine Symmetry Craft is the perfect combination of fun art and important math all in one!
- The fold in the middle is called the line of symmetry
- It’s like a reflection in a mirror
- Each point on one side of the heart is an equal distance from the line of symmetry as it’s corresponding point on the other side
- Each point lines up or touches it’s reflection point when you fold the heart together
