Greetings Mustang Families!

Our Mustangs had a fantastic time celebrating Halloween during lunch! ASB hosted a costume contest, and we saw some incredibly creative and hilarious costumes. During the last hour of the day, our contest winners participated in a parade through the campus. We hope all our Mustang families had a fun, safe, and happy Halloween!

Celebrating Día de los Muertos!

Our DLI students celebrated the beautiful tradition of Día de los Muertos by creating ofrendas (altars) to honor loved ones who have passed away but will always remain in their hearts. Through this hands-on activity, students learned about the meaning of this special tradition while celebrating culture, family, and remembrance. Thank you to Ms. Perez (6th grade), Mr. Betancourt (7th grade), and Ms. Garcia (8th grade) for sharing this meaningful experience with our students!

Important Message about Students' Freedom of Speech & School Safety Important Message about Students' Freedom of Speech & School Safety

We recognize and respect students’ rights to freedom of speech and peaceful expression. Our schools are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where students can share their perspectives while respecting the rights and opinions of others. We encourage families to have open conversations with their children about freedom of expression, responsible decision-making, and the importance of understanding school expectations. Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay informed about school and district policies, including Regulation 5145.2: Freedom of Speech/Expression.

If students choose to participate in a demonstration or walkout, we encourage families to discuss the importance of personal safety, respectful participation, and the potential impact on instructional time or leading to unexcused absences. While students have the right to express their views, school attendance expectations and established safety procedures remain in place. Families can support their children by staying informed, discussing the responsibilities that come with exercising their rights, and encouraging communication with school administration when questions or concerns arise. Our priority remains ensuring student safety, maintaining a positive learning environment, and supporting students in making informed and responsible choices. For additional information, families may review the San Diego County Office of Education's Resources for Student Walkouts and Protests.
