🚗 Parking Lot Safety Reminder 🚗 🚗 Parking Lot Safety Reminder 🚗

Hello DaVinci Academy Families~

We’re noticing an increase in unsafe activity in our parking lot. To keep students, staff, and families safe, please follow these important guidelines:

  • No left turns during drop-off and pick-up times: 7:45–8:30 AM & 3:30–3:30 PM.

  • Handicap spots are only for permit holders — please do not use them for quick drop-offs.

  • Use the main entrance during morning drop-off when directed by staff to help keep traffic flowing and students on time.

  • Minimize parking during drop-off/pick-up whenever possible. Fewer cars moving in the lot helps prevent accidents and keeps everyone safe.

Thank you for helping us create a safe and efficient environment for all students!

Help Support Our Sunshine Baskets Help Support Our Sunshine Baskets

As a way to spread kindness and care throughout our school community, the Sunshine Committee - a group of staff members dedicated to celebrating, supporting, and encouraging DaVinci staff - has created Sunshine Baskets. These baskets are given to staff members during significant life events, such as weddings, the birth of a baby, or the loss of a loved one.

To help us fill these baskets, an Amazon Wishlist has been created to collect donations. If you’d like to contribute, please consider purchasing an item from the list and sending it in to the school office.

Thank you so much for your generosity and continued support in helping us brighten someone’s day!

Warm regards,

The Sunshine Committee

They’re collecting new, unwrapped toys to bring joy to children in need this season and we’re thrilled to share that DaVinci Academy will be showcased on KARE 11 News for our community impact and the total number of toys collected!

You can drop off donations through December 5. Every contribution, big or small, helps make the holidays brighter for families in our community.

Thank you for supporting our students as they lead with kindness, compassion, and DaVinci pride!

In November, we’re focusing on GRATITUDE.

Gratitude means noticing and appreciating the good things in your life—both big and small—and recognizing the people who make a difference. It’s about saying “thank you,” showing kindness, and focusing on what you already have. Gratitude grows when you take time each day to pause, reflect, and feel thankful.

Ways to show gratitude at home:

  • Say “thank you” sincerely — to people who help or support you.

  • Write a note or draw a picture — a simple thank-you card or drawing can brighten someone’s day.

  • Lend a hand — help a friend, do a chore, or offer to assist without being asked.

  • Show appreciation through actions — listen respectfully, follow directions, and do your best work as a form of thanks.

  • Notice and share positives — take time to point out and share aloud what’s going well and express thanks for it, big or small.

Students who consistently demonstrate gratitude throughout the month of November may be nominated to receive a Character Award!

Award recipients and their caregivers will be invited to enjoy a special breakfast with the principals as we celebrate their positive example and thankful spirit.

Help Us Support Our Student’s Well-Being – Amazon Wishlist

The PTO is helping to support a vital resource for our student’s emotional well-being by funding the creation of emergency “Busy Bins.” In the event of an unscheduled classroom evacuation, due to unsafe conditions, busy bins provide immediate, quiet, leisure activities for students to focus on while waiting. These engaging, self-directed tasks help students manage anxiety, fill the time, and ultimately help staff make an overwhelming situation feel more controlled. The contents of the Busy Bins have been carefully selected for portability, quiet use, and durability. In addition to these activities, each bin will contain a small comfort item to address immediate comfort needs. This project represents a proactive investment in our school’s emergency readiness and the mental health of our students during a crisis.

The PTO has already secured the physical bins, and now the next step is to fill them with the essential supplies. You can contribute by selecting items from the Amazon Wish List, which allows you to conveniently purchase what you can and have it shipped directly to the school. By working together, the DaVinci Community can ensure that each bin is complete and ready to benefit our students and teachers. AMAZON WISH LIST: Amazon.com

A Note from the Health Office A Note from the Health Office

As the temperatures drop, we’re seeing all the classic signs of Minnesota winter weather: dry air, chapped lips, and stuffy noses! Here are a few reminders to keep our students healthy and comfortable this season:

  1. Stay Hydrated and Moisturized

Cold weather can lead to dry skin and chapped lips. Please encourage your student to drink plenty of water while they are at school, and home, and pack lip balm and lotion in their backpack. This helps them to stay comfortable and reduces unnecessary Health Office visits during the day, helping them to stay in class learning!

  1. Healthy Habits Matter

Cold and flu season is here. Please keep your student home if they are sick or not feeling well enough to participate in school activities. Remind them to cover their coughs and sneezes, and to wash or sanitize their hands. Water bottles should also be washed at least weekly to prevent the spread of germs.

  1. Immunization Deadline: NOVEMBER 20th

Families of students with missing immunizations have been contacted multiple times via emails and letters. Per Minnesota State Statute, students who remain non-compliant after Thursday, November 20, 2025 will be excluded from school starting November 21, 2025 until resolved. Please submit updated immunization records, exemption forms, or clinician’s letter as soon as possible to avoid interruption in attendance.

  1. Asthma Action Plans and Medications

If your student has asthma, please ensure their medications and updated Asthma Action Plan are on file with the Health Office. If your student is currently in their “Yellow Zone” and requires their inhaler during the school day, please email us so we can add them to our daily schedule temporarily. An email regarding this was sent to parents of students with asthma on November 10, 2025.

As always, thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe, healthy, and ready to learn this season!

Stay well,

Cassie Johnson, RN
