May Newsletter
Message From the Principal
Dear Silver Firs Families,
I can’t believe it’s already May! The school year has flown by, and it is wonderful to see our Jaguars continuing to grow and thrive. As we enter this final stretch, we have several important updates and reminders for our community.
📝 State Testing Starts!
It’s "Achievement Season" at Silver Firs. Our students have worked incredibly hard all year, and now they have the chance to show what they know. While we know our students are well-prepared, the following tips can help them feel their best:
- Prioritize Sleep: Ensure your child gets a full night's rest before testing days.
- Healthy Breakfast: A nutritious breakfast provides the energy needed for focus and stamina.
- Positive Encouragement: A simple "do your best" can go a long way in reducing testing anxiety.
- Attendance: Please ensure your student arrives at school on time, as testing sessions begin promptly.
SFE Testing Schedule May 5 – June 5: (SBA) in ELA and Math (Grades 3-5) and Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) (Grade 5).
🚦 Safety Spotlight: Kiss and Go Lane
To ensure the safety of our youngest learners, please do not park or leave your car unattended in the Kiss and Go lane between 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. During this window, our afternoon Special Education Preschool students are arriving. These students are some of our most highly impacted learners and require a clear, safe space to transition from vehicles into the school building. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping this lane moving!
🐾 Jaguar PRIDE & Spring Fever
"Spring fever" has officially hit our hallways! With the warmer weather and the excitement of year-end activities, it’s a great time to check in with your student(s). Please remind them to continue following our PRIDE expectations:
- Politeness
- Respect
- Independent management
- Doing their best
- Everyone working cooperatively
📅 Calendar & Quick Notes
- Memorial Day: There will be no school on Monday, May 25th. Enjoy the long weekend with your families!
- Lost and Found: Our bins are overflowing. Please stop by the cafeteria foyer to claim any missing jackets or lunch boxes before they are donated at the end of the year.
- Library Books: Please start looking under beds and behind couches! All library books will need to be returned soon to help us complete our end-of-year inventory.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let’s make it a great month!
