The SHARK Alert Chatham Elementary School Community Update

October 6, 2024

Dear CES SHARKS & Friends,

Thank you to all who were able to join us for last Tuesday's Back to School Night. It was great to see so many families join us for an evening of learning and fun!

Please note that Parent Teacher Conferences will be Tuesday, October 15 and Thursday, October 17th. Please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher if you need to schedule a conference. Also, school dismisses at 11:00 on both the 15th and 17th. Make sure you update your dismissal plans accordingly.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Kelly

Minecraft Ban & Technology Use

At Chatham Elementary School, we intergrade technology into many areas of our day. Technology is a tool for learning. CES is working to monitor student technology use and the appropriateness of programs and applications.

Minecraft is a popular game for many students aged 8+. While many of our students enjoy the game outside of school, it is not an approved game for the students of CES at school. We received reports that some students were able to access the game through use of an approved coding program. We have informed all of our staff to closely monitor student technology use and have told all students that Minecraft is not appropriate for school and that if continued to be used, students could lose their technology privileges.

CES Band Instruments

Our SHARKS love music! Mr. Toppa is an amazing music teacher who inspire/purcs our SHARKS to sing and perform. 4th-graders have the special opportunity to play an instrument. CES offers: flute, clarinet, trumpet, violin, and percussion.

If your 4th-grade student is interested in playing an instrument, but rental/purchase price is an issue, please contact Dr. Kelly and we can work to provide your student with an instrument. We want to make sure that every SHARK interested in playing an instrument has the ability to do so!
