Recent legislation required school districts to have a cell phone policy. After feedback from staff and families last fall, our district updated 505 Policy: Student Cell Phone and Technology and adopted 505 Procedure: Student Cell Phone and Technology.

This means, starting the 2025-26 school year, no cell phones or electronic device use will be allowed during the academic school day for elementary and middle school students, and limited cell phone or electronic device use will be allowed during passing time and lunch for high school students.

Please take the time to review this policy and procedure with your student(s) to ensure expectations are clear. Thank you in advance for your partnership on this.

• Rocky's Road Race will be held outdoors, weather permitting.
• Remind your student to bring a labeled water bottle and shoes for running.
• All students will receive a T-shirt on Friday, September 26.
• Get a good night sleep the night before and be ready to run and have fun!
• Volunteers will be available to assist during the Rocky's Road Race.
• All families are welcome to attend this fun outdoor event.
• Families will park in the side or main parking lots and walk to the back of the school to the soccer fields.
• Please do not enter the school building, but go directly to the back field.
• Please stay in the spectator areas during the event.

It has been a busy start to the year. Thank you for your patience as I make my way through health records, documentation, orders, screening procedures, and care plans.

Mark your calendars: Parent volunteers needed for Vision and Hearing screening on October 7, 8, 9th. Look for the sign up genius link from Gina Walseth, our Volunteer Coordinator.

Reminder on the district illness policy:

Students may return when they have had no episodes of diarrhea, vomiting, or fever for 24 hours without the assistance of medication. Students should be ready to participate in learning. Lingering symptoms like cough should be stable or improving, and not disruptive to the learning environment.

Report any communicable diseases to the health office, including but not limited to:

• Influenza
• Strep Throat
• Hand-Foot-Mouth
• Ringworm
• Covid
• Norovirus
• RSV
• Pink Eye

Fall Conferences will be held on the following days:

• Tuesday, Oct. 7th from 8-9 AM and 4:30-7:30 PM

• Thursday Oct. 9h from 8-9 AM and 4:30-7:30 PM

• Tuesday, Oct. 14th from 8-9 AM and 4:30-7:30 PM

The scheduling window will open on Wednesday, Sept. 24th through Friday, Oct. 3rd. All scheduling is done through your ParentVue account. If you do not have an active ParentVue account, please contact Jen Marsh at marshj@district279.org or call the office at 763-494-4549.

Picture Day will be on Tuesday, Oct. 21st and Retakes will be on Nov. 12th. The picture below outlines the process for ordering and receiving your student's pictures.
