Greetings World Class Hawthorne Parents & Guardians

We are buzzing with gratitude as we approach the final stretch of the school year—only 9 days left! Your students have worked hard all year, and we are so proud of their growth and resilience.

🌱 Thank You, Spring Planting Day Volunteers!
A huge thank you to all the parents who volunteered during Spring Planting Day in STEM specials! Your support helped create a memorable, hands-on experience for our students.

👑 Kids Rule the School Day
Our students did an amazing job leading the school during Kids Rule the School Day—they managed walkie talkies, sipped milk in their cups like true leaders, supported peers, and even participated actively in a faculty meeting! We loved seeing them shine in these leadership roles.

📊 GA Milestones Retesting Update
Thank you for your patience as we work through the 2025 Georgia Milestones assessment results.
• The ELA Retest scheduled for Monday, May 19 will not take place due to unpopulated scores.
• The Math Retest for selected 5th grade students will continue as planned on Tuesday, May 20.
• The ELA Retest for Grades 3 and 5 will be rescheduled district-wide. We will share the new date as soon as it’s confirmed.

📣 For Parents of 3rd & 5th Grade Students Taking the Retest
Here’s how you can support your child:
• Arrival: Ensure they arrive before 7:30 AM.
• Night Before: Encourage a full night’s sleep.
• Healthy Start: Provide a nutritious breakfast.
• Motivation: Offer kind words to boost their confidence.

We’re thrilled to announce that Hawthorne Elementary has won the inaugural Attendance Campaign Challenge! We’ll receive a trophy during a school-wide celebration, and we invite parents to join us for this exciting moment.

🏈 Flag Football Success
Congratulations to our boys’ flag football team for their two victories on Saturday against Oak Grove ES and Montgomery Gold ES! Though they fell to Montgomery Blue ES in a tough final match, we are proud of their determination throughout the season. As such, we will honor our amazing 4th & 5th grade student-athletes during a special 🥇 Sports Banquet. Tuesday, May 28th at 11:45 AM. Stay tuned for more details!

As always, thank you for your continued support. Let’s finish the year strong—Hawthorne style!

With gratitude,
Principal Henley

EARLY REGISTRATION FOR SY25-26 EARLY REGISTRATION FOR SY25-26

Lost & Found - Please take a moment to visit our Lost and Found to retrieve any of your child’s missing items—jackets, sweaters, hats, lunchboxes, water bottles, and more. Unclaimed items will be donated to Goodwill at the end of each month, so be sure to check before they’re gone. Thank you for your help in keeping our Lost and Found clear and your student’s belongings where they belong!

As we move forward, I want to emphasize the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment. Please remind your children that while we are committed to providing enriching opportunities for growth, this can only be achieved when positive behavior is consistently demonstrated. I kindly ask that everyone continue to follow staff instructions during both AM and PM carpool to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

Additionally, I’d like to highlight the critical role of consistent student attendance in supporting academic success. Our goal is for no student to miss more than 18 days of school, aiming for a 95% attendance rate this year—up from 93% last year. Your support is key to achieving this target, as consistent attendance lays the foundation for providing the best education possible for every student.

Once again, thank you for your support and dedication. It’s truly an honor to collaborate with each of you in educating and nurturing your children. Let’s finish strong and continue the great work we’ve been doing together! Let’s make this week count—on purpose as we continue to Go for G.O.L.D - Growing Our Learners Daily!
