Rockbrook Reminder
Rockbrook's Weekly Updates, 10-16-2026
Dear Rockbrook Families and Friends:
As we head into the weekend any school photos that were purchased should be coming home. Picture Retakes will be on November 4th, and this is also a chance, if you didn't order but would like to, to purchase pictures. (We'll also have Spring Pictures later this year). If pictures didn't turn out as you hoped, please have your child return their packet on retake day to exchange.
Dine Out & Meet Up!
Next week we have our Wednesday Don & Millie's night. Whether dining in or driving through, it's a great opportunity to skip the dishes, meet up with friends, and support the school!
Finally, the weather is looking warmer and less windy next week but we have definitely entered jacket season. Layers are key, as temps can change quickly here in Nebraska. Please plan ahead each morning so kids can enjoy time outside in comfort. As temperatures begin to drop, we may reach out to double check winter attire. When temps are above 10 degrees we typically go outside
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Higginbotham, Principal

Welcome to Rockbrook
We want to welcome several new faces to our team at Rockbrook. Please join us in welcoming Ms. Bleil, Mr. Davis, Mr. Cribbs, and Ms. Morales. He's been with us for a little while, but we also want to welcome Mr. Middleton.
School Spirit Awards
On the last school day of each week we encourage students to wear their Rockbrook or Westside Spirit Wear. Starting up our 2nd quarter we have two returning winners. Mrs. Lewis's class took 1st place and Miss William's class took 2nd. Remember to plan ahead and show your Bulldog Pride!
It's time for Halloween candy & things that go bump in the night!
Fun and Friendly Costumes please.
Halloween is coming soon, and we look forward to the chance for many of our favorite Halloween events. It’s time to think about your costumes. For our school parade and party please wear only fun and friendly costumes. Fun and friendly excludes blood, gore, scary/frightening masks or clothing, and weapons. We request you reserve makeup for your evening trick-or-treating. If anyone has questions concerning the appropriateness of a costume, please contact the office. Thank you for keeping things on the fun and light side!
Parade and Parties
Please do not have your child wear costumes to school. If your child's costume includes typical school-appropriate clothing or can be worn underneath, these are great options. Students will have some time afforded to change before the parade but need to do so with minimal assistance from teachers.
To make sure we have enough room for the fun activities planned in classrooms we ask that families only join the classroom parties if they are one of the signed up volunteer families. All volunteers during parties must have completed a district background check.
All families are welcome to join for our annual costume parade! If weather permits, this parade will come out the Northwest doors, along the parking lot, and back in the main entrance before the parties begin. Parents are welcome to come view the parade outside which will take place at 2:30pm on Friday 10/30.
Food Safety
Please remember to follow the District Approved Snack List. Linked is the list of what to bring for parties or birthdays. Thanks for helping to make Rockbrook a caring community for all of our students. We hope you have a fun and safe Halloween! While students will enjoy some treats in the room, most will be sent home for parent review.
Alternative Options:
We know that not all families participate in holiday celebrations for a variety of reasons. It's important to us that all students know they belong at our school and these family choices are respected. If this applies to your child(ren), please see the following options we have available.
- If your child needs help in acquiring a costume, please email Dr. Higginbotham for access to support resources.
- If you prefer your child not wear a costume but participate in the games and activities this is also fine.
- For families that prefer to not have their child participate in the parties, we are happy to have a fun game time with or without non-holiday treats depending on your family's preferences.
- Families may opt to pick up their child before the parties. This will be treated as an excused absence.

Library Updates
Elementary students attend library classes on a four-day rotation, receiving instruction and the opportunity to check out library materials weekly or every other week. Materials may be borrowed for two weeks and renewed if needed.
Our updated library system automatically sends email reminders about checked-out and overdue items. Many elementary librarians serve two buildings, so returned items may not be checked in immediately. We do not charge overdue fees. However, fees may apply for lost or damaged materials.
If you receive a reminder for an item your child has already returned, please allow time for it to be processed.

Construction Updates
Sidewalk and Stair Repairs
Dear Rockbrook Families,
With the opening of our new spaces we wanted to make you aware of some touch-ups and improvements being made in the near future. We want to make sure these spaces, both inside and out are just right and will be having some fixes done on exterior stairs and sidewalks. Please see the map below to show where work will be done. This will impact parking in the blocked areas but will still allow for pickup and drop off in the south lot. Thanks for your patience as we get things fixed up.
