Principal's Message
Hello PRT Families!
We've had a great week at PRT! It was nice to be back in the routine of a full week and we have settled into second quarter. Students worked hard this week on their math QBA!
October is National Hispanic Heritage Month. Five of our 8th grade students were honored at a district-wide celebration event earlier in the month. They were selected for their academic success in all of their classes and especially in advanced math. Congratulations to Landon Janis, Adrian Rodriguez, Victoria Martinez, Emilio Brana-Milian and Nathan Ruiz. Enjoy the pictures below!
Have a great Sunday and Go Chiefs!

Activities Recap
Football
PRT Football wrapped up another great season this week!
On Tuesday, 7th grade battled California Trail in a showdown of undefeated teams. Despite coming up short, the Huskies finished an outstanding 6–1 season as City Runner-Up! A high-powered offense and tough defense made this a special year!
On Wednesday, 8th grade got their revenge against Frontier Trail! A dominant defensive performance, capped off by a 75-yard pick-six, sealed the victory! The Huskies finished 6–1 and 3rd in the city!
Our 8th graders end their PRT careers with an incredible 12–2 overall record! The future is bright at ONW!
Congratulations, Huskies, on a fantastic season!
Band
Congratulations to the following 7th & 8th graders for preparing and submitting a lengthy audition for the Kansas John Philip Sousa Honor Band – 7th graders Will Dawson, Brayden Liu, and Wesley Becker, and 8th graders Addison Knute, Aurora Meyer, Lucy Althage, Adrian Brunk, Emma Patane, Daniel Marsh, Henry Rahmeier, Parker Dunlay, and Nash Harvey. We are very proud of your hard work and dedication to achieving this goal!
Jazz Band Field Trip
On Wednesday, the Jazz Band members went to the Jazz and Negro Leagues Baseball Museum on a field trip. What a great experience for our jazz band students!
Husky Fund Campaign - Extended through Sunday
We have extended the Husky Fund Campaign for the weekend in hopes of raising our goal of $9,000 to help us fund all of our building needs this year. https://ks-olathe.intouchreceipting.com/
Thank you to all of our families who have donated to the Husky Fund already! The money collected in this building-wide fundraiser is crucial for all of the fun things we do throughout the year! If we reach our full goal of $9,000, students who donated will be selected from a raffle to turn the administrators into french toast at the second quarter pep assembly on Nov. 13! The team with the most students who donate will win open gym time!
Orange & Black Day - Friday
It's orange and black day on Friday. Please note: We do not wear Halloween costumes on Halloween in middle school, however, the spirit day on Halloween is orange and black. Wear your Halloween colors!
Kay Club Celebration Veterans Day
Join us for Fall District Site Council
You are invited! Join us at Fall District Site Council on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 7-8 p.m. at Santa Fe Trail Middle School (1100 N Ridgeview Rd, Olathe) for a special presentation of Think Before You Post.
Chet Kuplen, founder of Think Before You Post and Sports in Kansas, will share practical insights on social media, digital citizenship, cyberbullying, artificial intelligence and the challenges students face in today’s digital world.
Parents, educators and community members are invited to learn how to help young people navigate technology responsibly and make positive choices online.
Attendance and Make Up Work
Having your student present and on time for learning is a key factor in their academic success. Your child's regular attendance at school is invaluable, not just for their academic growth but for their social and emotional development too. Your child is a vital part of our school community, and every day they're absent, we miss the opportunity to partner with them on their educational journey and watch them learn and grow.
If your child is sick or does have to miss school, please call the office or email prtattendance@olatheschools.org. If you need to pick your child up from school early for an appointment, please call the office with at least an hour advanced notice so your child will be ready for you when you arrive.
PRT administration closely monitors student daily attendance and tardies and will work with families if there is a need.
When your student must miss a day of school, it is their responsibility to use Canvas, StudentVue and/or email their teachers to request their make up work. Make up work needs to be completed and submitted in a timely manner and within two school days.
