I want to inform you of an incident that occurred during arrival today. At approximately 8:40 a.m. Beacon Hill Middle School experienced a brief interruption after the fire alarm sounded. The Decatur Fire Department was dispatched immediately, and an Evacuation response protocol was issued for students and staff. Decatur Fire determined that the alarm was false and cleared the building for reentry. The Evacuation status was lifted at approximately 8:51 a.m. At no time were students and staff in danger. Out of an abundance of caution, Decatur Fire and the CSD safety team will continue to investigate the cause of the alarm.
I want to thank the staff for their swift response to the situation. The disruption was minimal, and we maintained the continuity of our operations effectively.
