Troy Continuing Education is excited to share this newsletter highlighting a variety of fun and enriching summer camp opportunities for students of all ages! From chess and science to sewing, safety, and rocketry, there’s something for every interest. Take a look and explore the engaging programs available this summer at our schools and community sites.

{YEL!} Mad Scientists Training Academy 🔬🧪🧫

Monday, July 13 - Thursday, July 16

TWO SESSIONS

9:00am-12:00pm or 1:00pm-4:00pm

For students entering 2nd-5th Grades

In this class, you won’t just learn science…you’ll DO science. Make and take home a lava lamp, hover disc, explosive volcano, and...of course...SLIME! Use all of these experiments to explore and discover the scientific method. Don your white coat and goggles…it’s time to begin your own journey to becoming a mad scientist (cue maniacal laugh)!

NOTE: All experiments are physical experiments, not chemical. Students will be provided safety goggles to wear during class.

Chess Wizards Summer Camp ♟️

Monday, July 20 - Friday, July 24

9:00am-12:00pm

For students entering Kindergarten - 8th Grade

Join us this summer for tons of challenging chess lessons, exciting games, and fabulous prizes. You'll improve your chess skills, meet new friends, and work out your most powerful muscle - your brain! Our clubs include fun team chess games (like Corner Chess), recess time (of course), snacks, tournaments, and puzzles. Each camper receives a T-shirt, trophy, and puzzle folder.

August 3-7

Self-Defense and Safety Camp for Kids 🛡️

Monday, August 3 - Friday, August 7

9:00am-12:00pm

For students ages 6-11 years old

Kids, have fun and learn to be safe at the same time! Learn real self-defense and practice on an instructor wearing a padded suit. You'll also learn fire safety, how to use 911, stranger awareness, drug resistance, gun accident prevention, and more. Cartoons, art, physical practice and classroom games are just some of the fun ways that you will learn in this camp.

Parents, nothing is more important to us than our children. This camp is more than just a week of fun, it is an investment into a lifetime of safety. Kids will need daily lunch, snacks, water bottle, sunscreen, and a bag for activity sheets and handouts.

{YEL!} Destination Mars: Rocketry 🚀🔭

Monday, August 10 - Thursday, August 13

9:00am-12:00pm

For students entering 2nd-5th Grades

Launch and watch your very own rocket speed 300 feet into the air! Then it is yours to take home! Students will make and take home multiple rockets of varying difficulty throughout this session. We will use these rockets and airplanes to investigate basic aeronautical concepts including: propulsion, thrust, lift, drag and more. We will also hypothesize about travel in outer space, how to get a United States astronaut to Mars and life on Mars. Do you have the right stuff?

Creative T-Shirt Design: Art & Fashion Workshop 🎨🖌️

Mondays, July 6 - July 27

For students ages 5-11 from 1:00 - 2:00pm

and ages 12-18+ from 2:15 - 3:15pm

A fun, hands-on class where kids turn a plain T‑shirt into their own wearable artwork. In these creative sessions students explore the basics of fashion design using tracing sheets, fabric markers, and fabric paints. They’ll learn how to transfer designs, outline shapes, add colors, and personalize their T‑shirt with patterns, characters, names, or original artwork. This workshop encourages imagination, confidence, and fine motor skills while giving every child a chance to express their unique style.

Material Fee: $25 Paid to instructor at first class (Includes T-Shirt, Markers & Paints)
