November 2026 Newsletter
Christine Donnell School of the Arts
Dear Families,
We've had a few instances lately of parents trying to volunteer without volunteer paperwork. We hate to turn parents away! Please make sure you have volunteer paperwork completed BEFORE attempting to volunteer. There are many policies you need to read prior to volunteering to ensure the safety of our students. Here is the link to West Ada's Volunteer Handbook and applicable forms: Handbooks | West Ada School District. You will also need to bring your ID the first time you volunteer this school year.
The weather is getting colder! Please consider daily temperatures when getting your child(ren) ready for school. Below are recommendations based on the weather:
We currently have a number of students with negative lunch balances. It is not too late to apply for Free and Reduced Lunch. Even if you think you might not qualify, it doesn't hurt to try! LINQ Connect - Making Schools Stronger (Note: You must choose "West Ada School District" when applying).
We've started highlighting a weekly schoolwide Etiquette & Kindness Focus. So far, we've focused on friendly greetings, using please and thank you, and this week, listening with care. Next week, we will focus on including others, and the following week, noticing kindness.
If we can help in any way, please reach out! Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

One-Way Alerts
West Ada School District, including all schools, regularly utilizes the Apptegy Notification system to send district and school-specific information to parents/guardians via text, phone call, and/or email. The communications sent via Apptegy are one-way alerts, to which the recipient cannot respond.
These communications include notification regarding attendance, KUDOS, lockdown drills, late
buses, school closures, lunch account balances, registration information, as well as other
important topics.
Those present in the Household Tab in PowerSchool are automatically enrolled to receive these
messages. If you are not receiving messages:
- Ensure your contact information is accurate in PowerSchool.

PTA Corner
We had a wonderful October! We celebrated all of our students and their hard work during the Jog-A-Thon. All prizes were distributed, and we loved having the opportunity to recognize and celebrate your kiddos and their amazing efforts. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success!
A few things your PTA was able to fund this month:
A new laminator for the Teacher Workroom! Woohoo! It's already been a huge hit with our teachers!
Additional funds for teachers to use toward something extra and special for their individual grade levels and specials groups. Woohoo!
Clay for the Art Room to use in upcoming projects with our kiddos.
And more exciting things to come this month! :)
