Principal's News

This week, our first and third grade students enjoyed exciting field trips. First graders floated on Swan Boats in Boston and could not have enjoyed a more beautiful day. Our third graders visited the New England Aquarium and learned all about ocean life. Third graders also stepped back in time at the historic Winslow House, experiencing colonial life firsthand. These adventures were wonderful learning experiences, and we thank our PTO and parent chaperones for help making it happen.

Nurse's Notes

Seasonal Allergies: often called hay fever or allergic rhinitis, affect millions of children and adults each year. These allergies are triggered by airborne pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds during certain times of the year. Common symptoms include sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itchy eyes, throat, or ears, and coughing. For students, these symptoms can impact concentration, attendance, and overall well-being. Stay informed about daily pollen levels through weather websites or apps.

Stay indoors during peak pollen times, usually early morning and windy days. Keep windows closed at home and in the car to prevent pollen from entering. Shower and change clothes after outdoor activities to remove pollen from hair and skin.

Hydration: Proper hydration helps regulate body temperature, maintain energy levels, and support overall bodily functions. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, dizziness, and more serious health issues such as heat exhaustion or heatstroke.

Sun Safety: As the weather warms up, outdoor activities become more enticing. Remind your child to apply sunscreen before heading outside to protect against harmful UV rays. Encourage the use of hats and sunglasses for added protection, especially during peak sun hours.

If your child had any of the following symptoms today, please keep them home

  • Fever over 100 degrees (must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of tylenol or motrin to return to school)

  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea (if your child has had any vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours, they should not return to school)

  • Diagnosis of communicable disease such as strep throat or conjunctivitis (if diagnosed with a communicable disease and prescribed antibiotics, your child must not return to school until they have been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours

If you have any concerns about your child's health, or illnesses that may occur during the school year, please notify the school nurse at 781-319-3985.

Library News

This week in the library we read "A Bad Case of Stripes" written and illustrated by David Shannon. In this story, David Shannon, who is best known for his "No, David" books, narrates the importance of being true to oneself and the process of learning how to be comfortable in one's own skin. The colorful, imaginative story emphasizes that our differences are our strengths.
