Updates on the 2025-2026 Master Schedule
As we look ahead to the 2025-2026 school year, we want to keep our Parker community informed about the updated master schedule. The new schedule has been drafted and is currently in final revisions. To ensure accuracy and address any questions or concerns, we are presenting the schedule to staff in grade-level and department cohorts for feedback before it is finalized. When we return from Spring Break, we will meet with the last few cohorts, but so far, the response from staff—especially our Music and SPED departments—has been overwhelmingly positive.
We know that change can bring uncertainty, but we want to reassure everyone that this schedule was built with both the needs of our students and the integrity of our Music Magnet program at the forefront. There were several non-negotiables guiding the development of this schedule, including:
✅ Extended teacher planning time – Increasing from 45 minutes to 1 hour to better support instructional preparation.
✅ Equitable and structured instructional blocks – Ensuring all students receive high-quality, uninterrupted learning time.
Additionally, we were able to incorporate a “nice-to-have” feature: integrating Magnet time into the school day without sacrificing instructional time or student support services. This means that our Music Magnet program remains not only intact but enhanced, with slightly more time allocated to support our young musicians.
We have also taken steps to streamline meetings that require teacher involvement, such as ARDs and IAT meetings, to protect teacher planning time and morale, while still meeting all compliance requirements.
Next Steps in the Process
The final phase of the master schedule review will include:
1️⃣ SDMC Review – Engaging our Shared Decision-Making Committee for final input.
2️⃣ Open Forum at the Principal’s Chat & Chew – Providing an opportunity for parent and community feedback.
3️⃣ Test Run – Shortly after STAAR testing, we plan to pilot the new schedule to identify any final adjustments needed before full implementation.
A Challenge to Our Parker Families
We understand that change can be unsettling, and with any adjustment, it’s impossible to meet every individual preference. However, this new schedule is a step forward—not a departure from what makes Parker special. We encourage you to talk to our teachers about the schedule, especially our Music Department, to hear firsthand how they feel about it. There have been concerns that changes to the schedule might impact our beloved Music Magnet program, but in reality, we are investing more time into it—not taking away from it.
This schedule was built with our students, our traditions, and our future in mind. Change is never easy, but it is necessary for growth. We are evolving—not at the detriment of our school, culture, or student success, but for the betterment of our Parker community.
We look forward to sharing more details in the coming weeks and appreciate your trust and support as we continue to make Parker the best place for our students to learn, grow, and thrive!

Farewell and Best Wishes for Our Departing Parker Staff Members
As we plan for the upcoming school year, we want to take a moment to share important staffing updates with our Parker community. While change can be difficult, we want to assure you that these transitions are not a reflection of Parker’s campus culture or leadership, but rather personal decisions made by each staff member as they embark on new journeys.
We are announcing these changes now because staffing decisions for next year are well underway, and hiring publications will be going out soon. We want our Parker family to hear this news directly from us, rather than through speculation.
With that, we honor and celebrate the following incredible educators who will be moving on:
🔹 Ms. Marianna Parnas-Simpson, Chorus Teacher – Retiring after 25 years of inspiring young voices at Parker.
🔹 Mr. Steven Haff, Piano Teacher – Retiring after 24 years of cultivating musical excellence.
🔹 Ms. Luz Alfaro-Lopez, Bilingual Kindergarten Teacher – Retiring after 19 years of nurturing our youngest learners.
In addition to our retirees, we send our best wishes to those relocating or transitioning to new opportunities:
🔹 Ms. Beth Benne, Violin Teacher – Moving to Dallas, TX with her family after 18 years of shaping young musicians.
🔹 Mr. Marc Rosenburg, Guitar Teacher – Relocating to Nashville, TN after 5 years of bringing music to life for his students.
🔹 Mr. Ryan Dilbert, 4th Grade ELAR Teacher – Transitioning to a new school district after 5 years of fostering a love for reading and writing.
Each of these educators has made a lasting impact on our students and school community, and while we will deeply miss them, we fully support their decisions to move forward. I have personally spoken with each of them to offer my support and ensure that their transition is met with understanding and appreciation.
In true Parker spirit, our Music teacher are all helping us find outstanding replacements to continue our tradition of excellence. Though this is a bittersweet farewell, we celebrate their next steps and thank them for their dedication to Parker.
Please join me in expressing gratitude for their years of service and wishing them success in their next chapters.

Come & Sing Choral Festival
Thank You for a Remarkable Event!
A heartfelt thank you for your support in organizing this incredible event! Over 120 young performers took the stage at Parker Performance Hall, singing their hearts out. The audience was truly inspired, offering long-standing ovations in appreciation of the students’ hard work and talent.
The event brought together parents, teachers, and community members—even those not directly connected to our four choirs—making it a true celebration of music and togetherness. Among the attendees were former Parker Elementary Principal, Cappy Selig and three former Magnet Coordinators: Ann Hendrix (who founded the Magnet Program in 1975!), Cindy Pack, and Carol Kehlenbrink. They all expressed their joy in seeing the Music Magnet Program continue to thrive nearly 50 years later.
Congratulations to all—this achievement is a testament to the dedication of our incredible community. It truly takes a village to reach this milestone!

Congrats to Ms. Rowe on Her Promotion!
Please join us in celebrating Ms. Heather Rowe on her well-deserved promotion to Office Manager!
Ms. Rowe has been a dedicated member of the Parker community for over five years, serving as our front desk receptionist while wearing many hats beyond her official role. A Parker Proud parent and longtime PTO member, she has consistently gone above and beyond to support our campus. From managing textbooks to coordinating the 5th Grade Awards Ceremony, her commitment to our students and staff is unwavering.
In her new role, Ms. Rowe will share administrative responsibilities with Ms. Sanchez, ensuring that Parker’s operations continue to run smoothly. Ms. Sanchez will continue overseeing campus financial duties, while Ms. Rowe will assist Principal Carter with scheduling, special events, and clerical assignments, as well as leading and managing Parker’s growing clerical team.
A natural leader, Ms. Rowe has already been instrumental in many of these responsibilities and currently serves on the leadership team as the department chair for front office clerks. We are thrilled to see her step into this expanded role and continue making a positive impact at Parker!
Congratulations, Ms. Rowe! 🎉
Welcome, Ms. Michelle Cuellar, to Parker!
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Michelle Cuellar to the Parker team! Ms. Cuellar will be joining us as a Clerk, primarily supporting the 3rd-5th grade hallways. While Mr. Pales is temporarily assisting in SLC, she will also be covering 1st-5th grade hallways to ensure seamless support for our students and staff.
Ms. Cuellar brings eight years of experience as a Nutrition Services Manager with HISD and has also served as an Administrative Assistant for On-Time Grad, demonstrating her dedication to student success and operational excellence. We are excited to have her as part of our team and look forward to the positive impact she will make at Parker!
Welcome, Ms. Cuellar!
