Message From the Principal
Dear families -
This week many families and students have engaged with their teachers and classmates via Canvas. I’ve seen smiles on the faces of staff after connecting with kids via Zoom or seeing students’ responses to something posted. While we know that nothing is “normal” right now, hopefully the ability to connect with teachers and friends can provide a small aspect of “normalcy” and happiness to our Chain Lake community.
Our hope is to provide enough, but not too much, in the way of assignments and options for kids each week. We also know and understand that school-at-home is not the same as school-at-school. I’m navigating this online continuous learning journey as a parent with my own 1st & 3rd grader as well. Some days they work hard and complete what their teachers intended for them that day; other days they are silly, get distracted, goof around, and/or argue, which means that they don’t finish their schoolwork for the day.
We know this, and we understand. I encourage you to give yourselves and your children grace and space. None of us pictured that we would be at this place, but we are all walking through this journey together.
We miss you and we can’t wait to see all your faces and hear your laughter again. Hang in there.
Warmly,
Ana

Counselor's Corner with Mrs. Mitchell
Hey families!
I am sure you have seen this information before, but I think we all take multiple times to digest information. The biggest take away for me as a full-time working mom is to take care of yourself.
Reach out to your child's teacher or me for any questions. My email is mitchellh@monroe.wednet.edu.
Take care!

Got Yearbook??
Great news! Our yearbook sale is back up and will run through Friday, May 15th! Please note that we will not be able to accept payments at school, so purchases will only be able to be made online. Our standard yearbook will be on sale for $15.00 each. You can check out all of the other yearbook options and pay for your yearbook by going to www.monroe.wednet.edu. Scroll down and click on the ‘Online Payments’ button. Once you sign in, click on your student’s name and select 'Items at Student’s School.' Select ‘CLE,' select the type of yearbook you would like to purchase and the quantity, click on ‘Buy,' and checkout. Can’t remember if you have purchased a yearbook or not? Give our school office a call between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM or send me an email, and we can look up your yearbook info.
As for yearbook distribution, things will look a lot different this year. Yearbooks will still go out in June, but we do not know yet how we will be distributing them to students. We are working on a plan with Lifetouch and our school staff to figure out what that will look like and will relay information as the date gets closer. We are also hoping to offer a 'First Come - First Served' sale once pre-ordered yearbooks are handed out. Stay tuned!!

Monroe School District's Tip Reporting Service
Safety is our top priority. That is why we use SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting system that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration in four different ways:
Phone: 360-799-5419
Text: Text your tip to 360-799-5419
Email: 1003@alert1.us
Report tips on bullying, intimidation, harassment, safety issues, fighting, safety concerns, or other issues of concern.
And now 'there's an app for that!' Open the attachment below to learn more about the new app feature.
Anyone may easily report tips on bullying, harassment, drugs, vandalism or any safety issue of concern. Tips may be submitted anonymously, too. Thanks in advance for helping to keep our school community a safe place to work and learn! Together we do make a difference.
