Media Weekly

Over the summer, Tech Services went through the Self Service catalog and removed MANY apps that were outdated, violated student privacy, or were not widely used. Some apps you might use have been affected.

There is a form in the Technology in CPS folder of the portal where you can make an app request to have these apps reinstated.

Next week will be a B week, and we will see 5th grade!

If you are regularly scheduled for checkout on Monday, we will see your classes on Wednesday instead, same time. Students in EEE can get books in the morning before they go to EEE.

A few reminders about turning in books;

• Please collect student library books and return by 8:45 on your checkout day.
• If students want to renew books, please use the renew slips given to you this past week. If you need more, please let us know.
• Students who forget books on checkout day can come see us the next day with their books they've remembered.

Interested in a fun morning work activity? Sign up for a time for Erika to come from 8:00-8:30 with button making!

Erika will bring the templates and button maker, but please provide the coloring tools for designing. Use the sign up linked below or in the Wolf Den under Media & Specials. Please do NOT use Bookings for this activity. If you don't get on this sign up, we will offer this again in November and December.

You can now book Erika or Katie to visit your room to introduce / review Sora & ComicsPlus, CPS's main digital reading tools. If you class is already familiar with the apps, we can go into their more detailed features.

To reserve a time, please use our Bookings page and select Co-Teaching. In the details, please tell us what you and your class would like to focus on.

For staff members receiving new devices on September 12, here are some updates from Tech Services about the process.

• Remind staff to remove all stickers and decorations from their old devices.
• Save files from their desktop to Google Drive or another backup location.
• Staff will need to return all current devices (laptops, iPads) issued to you including power cords. Staff may be charged for missing power cords.
• There will be techs and media staff on hand to check in old devices, check out new devices, and help with any support needs during the day
• If you miss the device distribution day, you will work with Latrell for a time to get your new devices. They will not be left in the media center for you.

Katie and Erika would like to begin coming to some of your team meetings. We plan to come the week of September 9 to learn how we can support you this school year, as well as share a few ideas we have. If you haven't done so yet, please let us know your day and time for team meetings. Thank you!

Grades 4-5: Review Typing Club! Students will be changing their passwords and logging into Classlink and Google Drive

Grades 2-3: Introduce or review Typing Club! Students will be practicing logging in and starting a Digital Citizenship lesson

Grades K-1: Students will practice typing their usernames and passwords

Do you need books in your classroom or for students in need? We've received a lot of donations lately but they are free for the taking. You can find these in the Media Center conference room.
