March Newsletter for Northwood Elementary

Parent ConnectionMarch Newsletter for Northwood Elementary

Hello Northwood Elementary families-

Parents please help us keep students safe by reminding students not to run out into the crosswalk, or driveway during arrival and dismissal times. We also need all parents and visitors to adhere to crosswalk rules by waiting to be crossed at all crosswalks on campus.

When picking up and dropping off students, please use the car rider line. It is the safest and most efficient way to drop off and pick up students. We also need all available space on the sidewalks to get students safely and quickly to their cars.

We also ask that students exit and enter the car from the passenger side, if at all possible for the safety of students.

Congratulations to Ms. Large’s first grade class. They will receive a Marco’s Pizza party for the most Marco’s orders for the month of February.

Early Drop-Off Safety Reminder

We kindly remind families that staff supervision begins at 8:55 AM. Dropping students off before this time creates a safety concern, as there is no supervision available. For the safety and well-being of all children, please do not drop students off early. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as we work together to keep our students safe.

LORAIN COUNTY 4-H OPEN HOUSE

LORAIN COUNTY 4-H OPEN HOUSE

(Oberlin, Ohio) - Local 4-H youth and volunteers are hosting an informational open house on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the New Russia Township Lodge. The lodge is located at 46300 Butternut Ridge Rd. Oberlin, Ohio. Join us to learn more about 4-H projects, camps, animal schools, and the fun learning opportunities offered in 2025!

4-H is for youth ages 5 to 19 interested in having fun, engaging in hands-on learning, and helping others. Youth join a 4-H Community Club and can choose from a variety of programs and projects. Animals, computers, public speaking, cooking, art, gardening, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) are just some of the many fun topics kids can choose to learn about in 4-H!

4-H Club meetings are led by youth officers working under the guidance of a 4-H Adult volunteer. Most clubs meet 9-12 months out of the year, 1-2 times per month. Meetings last 1-2 hours depending on the time of year and educational program being offered. Leadership, communication, teamwork, concern for others, and problem solving are just a few of the many life skills youth gain from membership in a local 4-H Club. Lorain County has almost 60 4-H Clubs throughout the county!

Ohio 4-H is a part of Ohio State University Extension. To learn more about Lorain County 4-H, visit lorain.osu.edu or call the OSU Extension office at 440-326-5851.
