Technology/Canvas Office Hours for Teachers

The Learning Collaborative (TLC) will be hosting monthly office hours for teachers/staff to assist with Canvas and technology questions. Please bring your technology and Canvas questions to our drop-in office hours from 2:30-4:00. We will answer your questions or direct you to someone who can! Our next Tech/Canvas Office Hours session will be held on Thursday, December 2nd. Please see our flyer for the zoom link and more details!

Commons Corner

This section of the Newsletter is devoted to highlighting awesome resources that can be found in Canvas Commons. This month, we have selected some resources that can assist you with Social Emotional Learning. At the top of the Canvas Commons landing page, you will find an Elementary Support Course and a Secondary Support Course. These courses are a compilation of SEL resources that were available in Commons. If you want to import these resources, please make sure to import them into an empty course shell or sandbox.

Don't forget to upload your own materials to Canvas Commons. Let's share all of the amazing resources that you are creating for your students! Click this link for directions on how to upload your own work to Canvas Commons so that it can be shared with others.

Google LTI 1.3 External Tool

Reminder: We should now all be using Google LTI 1.3 when creating assignments through Canvas. This feature creates a copy of the assignment for each student and allows them to edit, create content, and turn in their work to you. Benchmark Academy Training

Have you checked out this section in your online Benchmark Universe Platform yet? Benchmark Academy provides asynchronous opportunities to enhance your Benchmark Instruction. Access to this resource can be found on the Dashboard as soon as your enter Benchmark Universe through Canvas. Some of the featured trainings include: program overview, review and routines, reader's theater, tech talks, and much more. Check it out!

VUSD Teacher Resource Course

If you haven’t visited it lately, our VUSD Teacher Resource Course on Canvas has some new resources to support you with Eureka, Fastbridge, and much more. The VUSD Teacher Resource can be found on your Canvas Dashboard or under “Courses” on your left hand global navigation bar. If you are not part of the course, please email taresamcspadden@vistausd.org and she can add you. We have added links for videos to all of the previously created Eureka Landing Pages.

IT Work Order vs. Technology Help Form

If you have checked with your Canvas Site Expert and still need support, you can fill out our Technology Help Form and we will assist you! The technology help form is meant for help with Canvas. The IT Work order can help with technology set up (printers, monitors, etc), account supports (Aeries, Cloud Connect, etc). If you need support with Lexia or AR, these are site based and your administrator should be able to support you. If further support is needed, you can put in a work order under accounts.
