Notes from the Administrative Team
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year!
We hope your summer has been filled with rest, joy, and time with loved ones. As we prepare to open our doors once again on August 6, we are filled with excitement for the year ahead—and we’re proud to launch this new chapter under our district-wide theme: “The Sky’s the Limit.”
This theme reflects our belief in the unlimited potential of every student, every educator, and every school community. Together, we will build an environment where students are challenged to grow, encouraged to dream, and supported every step of the way.
Throughout the year, we will continue our work to ensure that all students are safe, engaged, and inspired to reach their full potential. Whether it's through innovative learning experiences, expanded support services, or family engagement efforts, our focus remains clear: providing an excellent education that prepares every learner for success in school and in life.
We are so grateful for your partnership. Families are a vital part of our school community, and your involvement makes a difference. We encourage you to stay connected, communicate with your child’s school, and join us as we work together toward a year full of growth, discovery, and achievement. Pleasant Hill launched a new district app and website (Apptegy) last year, which was extremely successful.
The new app is a great way for you to catch up on the latest student stories, news updates, review lunch menus and get notifications. You can even access documents and events. If you haven’t already, be sure to download the app now!
Download for Android https://aptg.co/djDCcN
Download for iPhone https://aptg.co/qpcDrq
Pleasant Hill will also be utilizing Apptegy Rooms this year. Apptegy Rooms is a two-way messaging platform designed to enhance communication between teachers, families, and school staff within a school's mobile app. It allows for direct messaging between parents and teachers, classroom announcements, and sharing of important updates and files. By consolidating communication into one platform, Rooms aims to streamline the process and eliminate the need for multiple messaging apps (such as Remind, Class Dojo, etc.).
You can still find us on the web at www.phill69.com. the Pleasant Hill Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/phillpanthers, the Pleasant Hill Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/phillpanthers as well as the Pleasant Hill Twitter/X handle https://twitter.com/PHillPanthers. These social media platforms are a great way for you to follow our educational story. We will continue to utilize Apptegy as our automated broadcast system to send out text messages, emails, and phone calls regarding important events at the school. During the school year, students will also bring home bi-weekly notices and families will have access to a monthly electronic newsletter from Superintendent Weaver (Smore), which will share out important district news.
We have several exciting back to school events this year which we hope you will join us for:
Back to School Pool Party at Limestone Township Pool on Monday, August 4 from 6:00-8:00 pm-all families who have students registered, have shown proof of residency, and turned in all medical forms will get FREE ADMISSION!
Meet the Teacher/Unpack Your Backpack Day at Pleasant Hill on Tuesday, August 5 from 3:00-5:00 pm. Meet the staff, visit your child’s classroom, drop off their supplies and/or get their supplies organized (which will be here, provided compliments of City on a Hill Church, if you requested them during registration)
First Day of School On Wednesday, August 6, buses WILL BE AVAILABLE to pick students up in the morning, but families are welcome to drop their children off if they choose. Early dismissal will be at 1:30 pm, and buses will transport students home in the afternoon
***Please note that PH will only have ONE bus this year. We will still be contracting out with Illinois Central Bus Company and Paul will still be our bus driver. The school building will open at 7:30am for first-load bus riders and any walker/car riders that choose to come at that time. These students will go directly to the cafeteria where they will eat breakfast. At 7:45am, second-load bus riders will arrive and head down to the cafeteria to eat breakfast as first-load students transition to classrooms.
Let’s make this a year to remember—for our students, for our school, and for the Pleasant Hill community. Because when we dream big and work together, the sky truly is the limit.
Yours In Education,
Dr. Lisa Weaver, Superintendent & Mrs. Kimberly Priller, Principal

Dress Code Updates
Dress codes are an important part of building a positive climate within schools. At Pleasant Hill Elementary, our goal is to always provide an environment that is free of distractions, safe, orderly, and is conducive to learning. With our main priority remaining on following best practices in educating students, the administration, staff, and the Board of Education will continue to have all students school-wide wear uniforms. The school uniform at Pleasant Hill Elementary in which ALL students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade will adhere to consists of the following:
TOPS
- Collared Short-Sleeve Shirts: Short sleeve polo shirts or button-down dress shirts in any solid color
- Collared Long Sleeve Shirts: Long sleeve polo shirts or button-down dress shirts in any solid color
- Cardigan Sweaters & Crew Neck Sweaters: Zip up, button up, or plain front cardigan sweaters or plain crew neck sweaters in any solid color
- Panther Gear: Polo shirts with a Panther logo, crew neck sweatshirts with a Panther logo, ¾ zip pullover with a Panther logo
NO HOODIES or JACKETS/COATS are allowed AT ANY TIME during school hours, including spirit days and out of uniform days
Shirts should NOT have any logos on them unless they are Panther spirit wear

Full-length Pants: Khaki, navy blue, or black; Shorts ONLY ALLOWED during Quarters 1 & 4
No blue jeans, cargo pants, pajama bottoms, leggings as pants, or sweatpants allowed at any time unless specified (e.g. Spirit days)

Important Reminders
- Attendance is SO very important to our students' education. It is their number one job to be at school every day. Please work with us to make sure that students are here at school on time each and every day so they can get the best possible education.
- School will be dismissed at 1:30 EACH & EVERY WEDNESDAY this school year. This will be for school improvement purposes so staff members can engage in professional development and improve instructional practices in the classroom! Please make a note of this on your calendars!
- Just a reminder of our school hours. The doors open at 7:30 AM and students will be dismissed at 2:40 PM. Upon arrival, first load bus and walker/car rider students will head directly to the cafeteria, where they will eat breakfast. Second load bus riders will arrive at 7:45 AM and head to the cafeteria for breakfast. Students should NOT arrive before 7:30 AM as there is no supervision before that time.
- We will continue to contract out and work with Illinois Central bus company again this year. This year, we will have only ONE bus to transport all of our students. This one bus will make two trips to the school to drop off students. First load students will arrive at 7:30 AM and depart at 2:40 PM. Please remember if you are picking up your child that you must remain in your car, follow the line, and Ms. Phillips or Mrs. Griffin will bring your child out to you. If you have any issues with the bus drivers or the bus company in general, you can call Illinois Central directly at 309-280-6370 to work at getting your issue resolved.
- If there is a change in dismissal for your child, the school office must receive a note by 9:00 AM stating those changes (i.e. If your child is riding the bus home with a friend, you and the parent of the friend will need to write a note stating that change and have your child turn it into the office first thing in the morning). We work hard to keep dismissal procedures consistent for the safety of all students. Therefore, changes should be kept to a minimum. Daily changes to dismissal procedures will NOT be accepted through phone calls, only through hand-written notes.
- If your child is absent from school, it is very important that you call the school to report the absence. You can either call Mrs. Dimmitt at 309-637-6829 or you can send her an email at sdimmitt@phill69.com to report an absence.
- ALL students will need a pair of non-marking gym shoes that they can leave at school for use during physical education classes. This is essential with the upkeep of our recent gymnasium floor replacement.
Notes from the Nurse
School nursing is my passion and I am committed to doing my best to ensure the health and safety of your student (s)! Here are some highlights of my focus as we begin our year:
Physicals and Immunizations: Thank you to parents/guardians of our Pre-K, Kindergarten and 6th grade students for getting your student ready for school and turning their physicals and immunizations in. If you are new and just starting at Pleasant Hill, you have 30 days to get them in.
Dental Exams: All Kindergarten, 2nd and 6th grade students MUST have a dental exam. Please schedule these appointments as soon as possible and turn in the exam form when complete. Also, remember to have your students brush their teeth every morning and before bed every night!
Eye exams: All Kindergarten students MUST have a vision exam. Please schedule these appointments as soon as possible and turn in the exam form when complete. It is very important to get these exams done early so we know if your student is having any vision problems that can impact learning.
Please feel free to call me at 637-6829 or email me at nurse@phill69.com.
