Thank you for all of the families who joined us for Back to School Night! Here is our BTSN General Session Presentation.
September is Attendance Awareness Month! Please ensure your child attends school every day!
Our next Friday Flag is on September 18th at 8:20am hosted by Ms. Fitzgerald's 5th grade class! This will also be our Charger of the Month Friday Flag.
This newsletter contains important updates about:
- Pokemon Club
- Attendance Awareness Month
- ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee)
- School Site Council
- NWEA Fall Benchmark Family Reports
- Volunteer Process for Sunnyvale School District (this include any parent help during the school day, including set up for PTA events)
Warmly,
Allison Crawford
Pokemon Club's First Meeting was a Great Turnout!
September is Attendance Awareness Month!
Every Day Counts! Being at school every day matters, even in the earliest grades. Students are building new skills, friendships, routines, and connections each day they are here.
ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee)
Our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a group of parents, family members, and staff who work together to support our English Learner students and strengthen our school programs. We are looking for parents and family members of English Learners to join us for our first meeting on September 24, where we will review the purpose of ELAC and how families can be involved. We will also nominate ELAC members to serve as officers for the school year.
Ms. Field sent a message through ParentSquare to all families of English Learners on Thursday, September 10 with a short interest form to complete.
School Site Council
Our next School Site Council Meeting is on Tuesday, September 22nd at 3pm in Room 9 (Zoom link available on agenda).
The agenda will be posted 72 hours prior to each SSC Meeting.
For all SSC meetings, please check the school website for agendas, meeting information, and prior meeting minutes.
NWEA Fall Benchmark Family Reports
Our 1st-5th grade students completed the Fall NWEA Benchmark in Math and Reading. We will be printing them for all families and they will be sent home with your child the week of September 14th. Please keep these reports as they will be discussed during your child's conference (week of October 5th).
Reoccurring Information & Reminders:
Daily Belongings & Item Drop-Offs
Please ensure your child arrives each morning with everything they need for the day (lunch, water bottle, jacket, homework, etc.). To minimize classroom disruptions, office staff cannot deliver forgotten items to students during school hours.
If you must drop off a forgotten item:
Use the Drop-Off Cart: We have a cart our office staff will put the items for your child to pick up.
Remind Your Child: Instruct your child to check the cart during breaks or lunch (outside of the office hallway door).
Teacher Notification: You may email the teacher as a heads-up, but please note they may not see messages while instructing.
Reminder for K-3 Friday Early Dismissal:
When picking up your K-3 student at 12:45pm on Fridays, please remember that our 4th and 5th grade students are still in class. Please pick up your child and then immediately exit campus. There is also an active PE class occurring on the blacktop during this time, so please be mindful of this and walk around the blacktop area. Thank you for understanding!
