Back to School Message from the Acting Superintendent

I hope that everyone has enjoyed the summer vacation and I realize that many of you are starting to feel the "back to school" anxiety. I am providing this short newsletter to outline the calendar for the school year, the first week of school schedules, and the back to school nights for each school.

Each school principal will be sending out school specific communications in the near future. We have worked throughout the summer to make this year's school opening a safe and successful endeavor.

We are moving forward with an updated Mission and Vision Statement, as well as a new five year Strategic Plan. That said our key goals/focus areas will be:

  • Supporting teachers through coaching and professional development to create the learning environments needed to effectively support all students.
  • Strengthening our communication and engagement efforts so that students, staff, parents and caregivers are seen, heard, and feel connected to the Saugus Public Schools.
  • Providing all students with standards-aligned, consistently outstanding instruction in supportive learning environments.

Our feeling is if we can make progress in those focus areas our district and our students will be moving in a positive way. We are committed to putting our students first and committing to reaching these goals to ensure all our students are held to high standards and graduate from the Saugus Public Schools future ready.

We are looking forward to an exciting 2023-2024 school year. Please enjoy your last several days of your summer break.

Respectfully,

Michael Hashem - Acting Superintendent - Saugus Public Schools

I Survived Middle School Orientation

We just wanted to say thank you for everyone that contributed some piece of making the orientation days so successful. We had 146 incoming six-graders in attendance, and even more exciting we had 33 upper classmen ranging from grade 7th to 12th that gave up three days of their summer to come be a part and contribute to their school community.
